If I were a kpd i'd much rather play on Thilthorpe than McDonald.
McDonald would run rings around any defender.
Again, the underrating of Thilthorpe on this board is astonishing - he is no slouch and has been right up there with Westies seniors from the reports coming from them

here is shifter's take

Riley Thilthorpe

West Adelaide FC -SANFL / Goodwood Saints
Height: 201cm
Weight: 100kg
07/07/02

Highly promising tall forward/ruckman who has already played 15 games at senior level for West Adelaide over the last two years after missing last year’s NAB AFL Under-18 National Championships due to injury. Star at Under-16 level in Championships in 2018 for South Australia winning All Australian honours and last year prominent in NAB AFL Futures match on AFL Grand Final day with his overhead marking, agility and repeat efforts all part of his arsenal. Shows some of the traits of Richmond’s Tom Lynch with his presence as a marking target up forward.

I suspect that there may be more defenders with endurance rather than one to match 200cm and 100kg weight that can work well on the ground too. Having said that both players seem to have very good qualities. I just prefer Thithorpe over McDonald slightly and prefer Hollands over both of them slightly. Time will tell what our Crow selectors will pick in the draft.

Underrating? I've watched him multiple times and no one in their right mind can compare him to Logan as a forward.
Logan is a freak, Thilthorpe is very good.

It's not about fitness. It's about football smarts and athleticism combined.
He is as smart in terms of footy iq as I've ever seen from an u18 kpf, but he has the athleticism to put that iq into action.

He should never be compared to Thilthorpe as a kpf.

Would you compare kruezer to tom lynch?

or I might more heavily weight Shifter Sheehan's comments about Thilthorpe - coupled with the times I haver seen Thilthorpe play live with my own eyes.

Agree .....this Draft was supposed to be weak .....but there's noise within the industry recently that opinions on this Draft are changing

Waynes on to something here!

Listen to today's Road to the Draft podcast with Swan's head recruiter Kinnear Beatson.

Rates the the draft as: "STRONG"

Swans are trying to get to the bottom of Thilthorpe's injury. If the Crows want to flip trade our first next year to move up, they have my blessing (eg. 5 for 9 with a flip of 2021 first with GC).

I assume Lynch was elite overhead as a junior or did he develop that later?

Lynch the Richmond version was actually an elite midf was only 5'10 before his draft year.
He grew like 6inches in his draft year and therefore was pushed as a forward given his height.
Took him a while to develop as a quality forward because most of his jr days were spent playing midf.

Those late bloomer talls are golden.

So how will the rule changes affect us .....no doubt the 3 players inside 50 at all times will graduate to the AFL in the future

So our key forwards .....does this structure suit the leading FF or the contested marking beast like Charlie Dixon?

What impact will this have on our #1 pick ?

I think he went pick 8.
If he stayed at 5'10 would've gone latter in the draft.
If he grew taller earlier and had plenty of time playing forward as a jr, he probably would've gone top 2.
There were still queries whether he would be a kpf or tall mid.

I liked him in his draft year, but didn't think he would become such a gun.

Logan McDonald is much more developed as a kpf than lynch was at same age.
I still think long term he could be the next nat fyfe.

Disagree Jeff ....older players yes worse ....but the younger guys will be better; Himmelberg, Jones, Ned, MacKay, McPherson and Fogarty

I never expect much from 2nd year players

We'll be training as a group, thus Nicks gameplan will be further embedded in habit .....full year of Laird in the midfield....Doedee, Milera and Seedsman back from injury

Negatives
Hartigan leaving, leaves us potentially exposed for experience

No depth .....injuries will cruel our season

Can see us finishing 15th .....leaving us with #4 pick in the next Draft
That would be hugely successful progression for us

can’t see it unfort

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this forum, it’s that Jeffcrowe is always right.

So I’m looking forward to drafting McDonald and then drafting in the first couple again next year.
We shall see

happy to be correct Re McDonald

prob prefer we don’t come bottom but I can sort of handle it if we improve then get Horne and a couple more good ones then have a much better 2022 result

Potentially the next tom lynch.
If we take Thilthorpe over McDonald and Hollands I will basically give up on the club.

Lots of opinions on this. I think you are going to be disappointed. I reckon we are a long shot to take McDonald. RT hot fav followed by Hollands
Can’t wait to see what we actually do

All this talk of Thilthorpe sliding (out to pick 9 even) to me seems a bit far fetched..

there are so many unknowns when it comes to the Victorian lads in the top 10 of the draft... no ones even seen them play this year!..

Couple this with the fact that everyone has seen mcdonald and tilly play this year and all the teams bar one with the first 5-6 picks in this draft could all do with a young KPF with great potential, as they all have deficiencies in their current forward lines that they need to fill, and its hard to see either of Mcdonald or thilthorpe getting anywhere near past pick 6.

my personal opinion is that both KPF’s will be gone by pick 4..

and if any player in that current top 5 is gonna potentially slide.. it will be the lad thats a forward who’s spent most of 2020 recovering from a knee recon..
I can see him making it to Essendon picks 6,7,8 but not past them
