TASMANIA will be back in the NBL by midafternoon on Friday.
It was in late 2016 then new Chargers president David Bartlett declared he wanted the state to be NBL ready in three years – tomorrow that dream will become a reality.
But there is still one obstacle that could derail the whole deal.
The Mercury understands NBL owner Larry Kestelman will be flying into Hobart to make the announcement that the state will return to the league for the first time since 1996 and will become the 10th team in the competition in the 2021-22 season.
tmw is crunch day for the Tassie NBL side. the word in our local media is that it will go ahead. geech, we leave things late down here. 60 mil spend for the government all up, 40 mil for the DEC for the NBL side plus 20 mil a multi-venue sports place next door. Should be a win-win-win for all parties and sounds like they have the support from all local, state and Fed governments. But I guess we will wait for tmw.
