I am back!!!!

OK First post in a long time.

Port Guernsey Debate

Port want to appeal to their heritage and their traditional supporter base by wearing their prized prison bar guernsey. I have an issue with this not because I am anti Port its because they should never wear that guernsey in the AFL except for the occasional heritage round. Why? because they made an agreement to enter the AFL that signed away their colours, song, image and Guernsey. Collingwood have the right to protect their brand, image and appeal to potential supporters.

If you do a design comparison between the two Jumpers lets use the Crows jumper as an example. If a club wanted to come into the competition with the colours Navy, Gold and Red and had a similar hooped jumper but instead of our pattern there was a big navy hoop in the middle and the other hoops were thinner. that is essentially the exact difference between the prison bars and collingwood. As a Crows fan id be furious.

Port came in understanding the terms and conditions but now they want to amend the rules. Kochie is president of Port Adelaide club because the last time Port tried to rally its traditional base they alienated all their non port sanfl fans and they gave themselves an identity crises. They ended up with tarps as a result.

To this day I think the biggest mistake they made was walking away from their premiership guernsey for the boring back in black jumper. it was powerful and associated with success. Now they are giving themselves another identity crises because they are trying to link with the 150 years. How about instead of trying to relate to a defunct jumper to inspire the passion, why not link to your most recent success, the one the past players from the premiership year from interstate can get behind.

At the end of the day, for all the critique Port level at the Crows at least we've never had an identity crises that was self made (twice) and always stuck with the same basic hoop design (or variations) associated with our image and success.

Back from where? The space station, Mars, the bunker at the White House?

From memory I don't recall Fitzroy kicking up a stink that we wore red, gold and blue when we entered the competition.

Nor did we kick up when Gold Coast adopted red, gold and blue as their colours.

And Carlton and Geelong seem to exist fine wearing blue and white.

Yet Eddie/Collingwood lose their minds because Port want to wear black and white...
Yeah true, but you know... **** Port. 😊

I wish our chairman was as outspoken as Eddie
I don't, I'd rather our president be like those from a West Coast or Richmond whom you barely hear from but they get the job done. When they speak you listen but they don't pick fights or grandstand.

Or like Bob Hammond.....

I just want a Chairman who protects our club & makes it strong. Someone who makes all within accountable to be the best we can to provide a successful environment.

I want a Chairman and CEO with energy and urgency. Chapman and Fagan are one-paced, have no creativity and rely on ingrained processes. It is no secret they value security and stability over courage and the will to challenge the norms - and there is your culture.

One of them being one paced is fine, but not both.

Jake Kelly's also been in the AFL system a tad longer than Butters to build strength as well?
Irrelevant of Kelly and his poor pushup technique, I was just very surprised there was an AFL footballer who couldn't do 30 push ups.

Don't you start doing 20 pushups in U10s?

Interesting Jono Hay article.

Hawthorn are borderline fraudulent for trading him for top value when they knew he had two drug strikes and ongoing problems. That was information North Melbourne couldn't know, and it's as dodgy as **** to trade him without them knowing.

That's an AFLPA issue, and one that won't be changed any time soon. If the shoe was on the other foot North probably wouldn't have told the Hawks.

The clubs don't get told about drug strikes do they?

Either way shrewd business. There are no good guy awards.

I think the doctor gets told after 1 or 2, but there’s a confidentiality to that. Unless Hay told them, the footy dept guys wouldn’t have known.
Dr gets told after one, high ranking officials after 2 but they're under no obligation to tell another club.

What Hawthorn did was morally wrong but in no way illegal

That was a reasonably recent change I reckon. I recall Eddie or Jeff saying a few years ago that they need to find out so they can help.

That scenario sounds very similar to Chris Yarran's move from Carlton to Richmond
