Feeling pretty flat on fantasy footy now unfortunately. So much time and enthusiasm has gone into the preseason.

But now Im at the point where I havent even looked at my team in the last week (or this forum).

Its ambitious at best for AFL to declare a 17rnd season. I suspect the year is over as soon as 1 player gets it.

Even if they push on with it, fantasy probably gets too hard to manage and will be the first thing to be cancelled as a result.

I think I'll review once teams are announced and slap together a unique team minimising rooks this year in the off chance im ahead in the first month when the whole season gets canned.

Then the real battle will begin.... does the winner still get the car this year in a reduced year? I doubt it.

Do I get my 20bucks back? I doubt it.

What an utter mess!

Feel the same. Was super keen on it up until last week and now I'm just feeling a bit meh about looking at my team. Even if by some miracle we do get through 17 rounds AND fantasy sticks around for the duration the season will be so 'random' that it probably isn't even worth committing too much time to it.

Will probably still look at it occasionally regardless but I'm thinking I'd much rather just focus on enjoying the football we do get and try to avoid worrying about fantasy for the year. Such a shame though because I was really coming to like how my squad had turned out before this whole thing really went into overdrive.

Also interesting and important to note; state leagues are postponed until May 31. This makes it interesting for guys not in clubs best 22. How will they find form or get noticed? Will they be given as many opportunities to train with main squad? Surely this limits the amount of guys we have that tend to “pop up” through great form in the reserves? What does this mean for the mid season draft also?
Didn't even think about this point when I read the reserves comp postponed til Winter.

Even more sway to the AFL season being put on hold.

Been getting pretty bored lately.
If no footy, I might have to find one of those hobby things ppl have..

Potentially only going to have 32 trades this year. Down from 47 last year

With the key likely to be to limit on field rookies to start with, I’m going to have to take on one of the big 3 of Grundy, Whitfield, Macrae/Dunkley. Thinking I’ll go Whitfield down to Devon to free up cash

Can understand why they’re all postponed though as it’s a semi-pro Comp and there is less control over human to human contact eg. guys working their day job etc

This has had both good and bad outcomes.

The bad: So many unknowns with the season and all my planning is down the drain. No sport to watch, Kayo subscription draining funds.

The good: Turns out that a beautiful and smart woman lives with me and i mustered up the guts to talk to her all weekend instead of watching sport. She calls herself "wife". Anyone else have one of these around?

Well I’m probably going to look towards picking more durable players, limiting trades wasted fixing up injuries will be defining to getting full premium as quick as possible.

Some guys I’ll keep as I can handle the risk due to their upside (Naismith), but others I think I’ll look at trading (Coniglio) due to their price tag and high ownership (another potential leg up on the comp).

Picking a replacement for a position becomes awfully hard after being set on a player for so long, and with lack of funds it knocks down another player also.

The combinations I’m now looking at for my midfield look like this:

Coniglio and McCluggage +10k
Vs
Oliver and Gus Brayshaw/Viney +18k/60k
Vs
Steele and McCluggage +67k
Vs
Merrett and Gus Brayshaw/Viney +1k/43k

Personally loving the looks of Oliver and Merrett now, both low ownership, Zach has his concussion worries but probably presents slightly more upside. Tough to find another midfielder I like in that 600-670k price range, already have Will Brodie. Looking at Gus and Viney in this price range and considering to Gus over Viney due to the nature of injuries Viney has had in the past and the possibility that of Gus getting back to or near his 2018 form.

Great call on the durable guys, they’ll be worth their weight in gold this year

Starting to think I’ll avoid Coniglio, and maybe even Whitfield now tbh, 19,15,22,16 are Whitfields games played the last 4 seasons and he’s super expensive

Thinking of going with some midprice madness with the situation we're in.

Your predicated average of these guys -
McCluggage
Berry
McGrath
Perryman
Hately
Cerra

Cheers!

Yeah im going to be playing around with this and see what a team looks like. As i think this could be the way to go this season

Shortened games I think means goodbye Grundy and maybe even goodbye Dunkley to ensure there are no rookies on field up forward
Yeah, all depends on how much are they shortened i guess. Good PPM becomes much more relevant. Less mid rotations will be needed and so the second stringers may not see a lot of onball action. Changes things quite a bit for me.

heard they are looking at 16min qtrs and 4 mins extra, effectively cutting the game by about 16 minutes per game.

will have a big effect on some players and may even increase the mid time of some who won’t as such need to “rest” up forward and can instead spend most time on ball

might be a big scoring reduction for players like Whitfield or Gaff who are guns at the junk time stats in the last few minutes just floating around the wings

too many unknowns, really just playing darts blindfolded this year

Might do well for blokes like de goey who are more impact players through the guts but lack the tank... might end up with more mid time % and come out of nowhere as underpriced premos.

On another thing if the 1/4s are to be say 20mins would that mean that BE’s are still going to be adjusted on current formulas/prices? Or would they factor in the 1/3 less game time?? The higher the price the higher the price drop could mean starting lots of mid prices/rooks will put you well ahead of full priced premos when it comes to cash gen

I don’t hold that much faith in the game developers that they would be able to recalculate the break even and pricing formulas before Thursday (if that’s a go ahead) to make changes there based on reduced game time.

just a toss up if I could be bothered playing with the team now or just go with what I have and hope for the best
