Fresh of a fantasy bbl league win and half a k healthier in the hip pocket expectations are high at Hermit land.
This is the current situation that I’m sure will look different tomorrow. No Gawn is a new thing for me so not sure that will last.

looking forward to the feedack. Remember that feedback isn’t another word for criticism haha.

Can I criticise the lack of spending of said half a K on hookers and coke?

I am more concerned that in the last 3rd of the year, playing under Shaw he seemed to struggle even more.
Averaged 65 in the last 7 games, same as the first 3rd when Scott was coaching.

Fair point. I didn't perceive such a drop-off at the end.

He's probably a more risky than average selection at the price, but should still come under consideration. I would expect that the majority of SCers will need to take at least a couple of forwards around the mid-high $300k mark to get the right mix of mid and non-mid premos. The main candidates include Buddy, TJ Lynch, Tom McDonald, Simpkin, Andy Brayshaw, Jack Steven, Jon Patton, Dev Smith and JJK.

More than half of these are KPFs, so most people avoid them although there is some love for Lynch and Patton.

You have to take Dev Smith at the price. Most seem to be also opting for Jack Steven and their mid-price madness stops there (i.e. at two). Personally, I'm very concerned that Jack Steven will take a fair while to get going and there's a real chance that his high average days are behind him. So I've taken Simpkin instead.

Andy Brayshaw is favoured by some, probably more so than Simpkin, but to me he's a similar leap of faith but less talented.

I think Lipinski and Brayshaw will really need to fire and becoming keepers for that team to work.
The lack of Gawn will cost you a trade or two from the get go. Maybe another two on Lipinski and Brayshaw.

Titch and Doch had a lot of time off.
Cogs and NicNat injury prone.
Roberton a little risky too.
I know it's a long way out still but I wouldn't want to carry that much risk into round 1.

All very valid points. I guess I’m just trying to take some risks to get ahead of the pack. Looking for a few breakouts.

Any player can break down at any stage I guess.Didn’t go near Brad crouch last year because of injury concerns and he did well for his owners.

I think lipinski or Bradshaw could potentially be F5 or 6 so that I can load up in other lines.

All this could change however as mentioned.

You think Lipinski scores more than Bailey Smith? Are there going to be enough points to go around at the Dogs for either of these to become valid f6?

Thoughts?

Very unconvinced by many premo's, especially mid and forward. Rookies also look quite barren, so going for more midpricers than usual.

Just start with both, which is what I am doing. Can't really see any issues with starting those 2.
You're spot on. Only mids worth starting are at Clarry's price and up imo.

I'm going large with Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Jelly and Dunkley. Think they all have 120+ in them.

The standard of the top end mids will be quite high this year. You need m8 to be no less than 110+.

A lot spent on your def rooks...some cheaper guys could be better options.Gould from swans should get games early by reports.
Lipinski....a no for me. Find the funds to Upgrade him or Drop him to a mid price guy with more upside.
No Gawn also a worry...its easier to spend the cash than to find it if he does/doesn’t get up for round 1.

I think the biggest problem for you will be the inevitable covering of NicNat when he is rested, I don't think Cameron cuts the mustard.

I'm reasonably settled on this team and haven't made any saved changes for over a week.

My plan is to have 24-25 keepers with eventual cover on all lines including ruck. I'll trade heavily after round 3 and I'm not averse to dropping an underperforming premo to a rookie on the bubble which could give me the opportunity to upgrade 3 rookies by round 7 and get a bit of a jump on the pack who will be waiting a little longer for their cows to fatten, I did that last year with McEvoy > RO'B in round 5 but I dont think I'll do that in the Ruc this year.

DEF: 4 Keepers at D3, D4, D5 plus Hill at D7/M7

MID: 6 Keepers at M1, M3, M6, M7, M8 plus Cockatoo at M9/F7

RUC: 2 Keepers

FWD: 4 keepers at F1, F3, F4, F5/6

Leaves me needing to do 8-9 upgrades which I think I need 20-22 trades to achieve, only leaves 8-10 trades for corrections/LTI's/bye structure and rookie cash outs. That might not be enough, so I'm really banking on nailing my initial team, unlike last year when I had a good starting team and stuffed it up in the 2 days leading to lockout.

Risky picks for me are:

Houston....All news is about a permanent move to Mid, looks very likely with Wines out, but still a wait n see
Hill.........Durability is a concern

Lyons....he's in ATS as a value and POD pick.
Cockatoo.....see Hill

Whitfield....see Hill & Cockatoo
Lynch...He scored well in the back half of the year when the Tigers went unbeaten in the last 12 and with 10 of the first 13 at the G I think he's worth a punt.

I would like to hear some feedback (positive, negative, constructive or indifferent) as this is only my second year playing this game and I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

*Edit........Yeah/nah, tell him he's dreamin:D
10th draft sc20.GIF

I'm liking this structure for my team.
In both Defence and Forwards I've got 2 Premos, 1 Fallen Premo, 1 Pricey Rookie and then rookies. Then I've got the 5 Uber Premo Mids and Gawndy with rookies around which gives me hopefully 13 keepers if I don't get reamed (unlikely).
Not gonna take too many risks this year cause I got burnt by some campaigners last year. Only taking the best of the best. Seagull, Zilliams, Whitfield and Dusty should finish top 6 in their positions. The 5 Mids and Gawndy speak for themselves.

Will stay with this team until I change it again in 10 minutes.

I like it 4tune8 . No Fyfe/Cripps/Neale in the mids yet, but I assume your plan is to get them in at a lower price later to fill your M2, M4 and M5 slots, hopefully.

Personally not one to take KPP's, so Lynch is a watch and see for me, but can see the attraction there.

Docherty and Hill the only real injury risks too, which is good.

I like the structure - making some sense out the jigsaw of mpm and higher priced rookies. No love for Young in def? He seems to be one of the talked about favs to start R1.
