You seriously think our management would be that ambitious?

Between Reid and Ogilvie, think we're alright at this. Kelly just needs to let them do their thing. Normally it's been trading down as we've been able to get what we want lower or haven't rated a group that far apart to knock back a bit of sugar. But if Ogilvie told Reid that a 9 to 4 upgrade would be a huge positive, then Reid would get that done I reckon. Fringe benefit, 1 less useable draft pick for a Dmac replacement, so the little champ is 1 spot closer to extension.

Two things I'm wondering.

Does Brad Crouch have 2 strikes already? If the rumors are true that he's had "some indescretions" they must be pretty bad to cause the AFL to block trading him. What happens if he has 3 strikes? 12 match suspension from the AFL plus plenty of negative press, perhaps the club might have to impose a further few games as well for PR, to lose nearly a season to suspension on a 5yr contract would be pretty poor returns.

The other thing is are AFC and GWS working together on the Cameron thing? Teaming up to make sure Geel can't get Cameron easily and the return for us if we help is some payoff, Hately cheaper plus some favourable pick trades?

Actually, a third thing, it seems to be a trend that clubs are handing over less and less picks for players who are choosing to go to clubs, since the club that loses the player has absolutely no recourse under the current system. When will the AFL big highly paid bods pull their useless heads out of their prolly slightly less useless anuses and do something about this? When a getting players club like Geelong gets two top players, say a Cameron and Crouch and the two losing clubs get nothing (ala GC on Martin)? I mean how bad does it have to get before they act??

The second strike is made public, it's bullshit character assassination. Brad got caught with cocaine and that was the end of him at our club. We couldn't handle having him at the club for 4 years at $700k. That's all the indiscretions that our club needs to burn a player for whatever shit result comes back our way. Having a go at golden boy Brett Burton over his injury management would have put a mark against his name as well. He probably declined the offer for the impromptu pizza and beer night as well. But the talk about a player with serious drug issues resulting in AFL trade intervention is just garbage.

I take it you're not buying the word from a few in here that the AFL blocking Brad's trade to GC is legit?

We didn't want him before that......

Not true. We didn't want him at our $ rate by the term he was demanding, that is all. Hence getting the market to see what he was worth by his term. Highest bid of $700k x 4 years I'd say we match if not for the coke bust. But as I posted a long way out, by that time he's met the coach etc and been sold the dream and signed a playing contract. So difficult to come back from there.

One of 6, 7 or 8 would get it done (whatever picks they have there)

I can't see it happening with Harto gone, yet a friend of mine said he heard it from the horses mouth that the club have sat down with Talia to discuss a potential move.

Apparently a few senior players are a little unsettled of no clarity of the rebuild plans.

I'm all for trading washed up senior players but Talia is off limits for me. He still gives a sh*t and isnt afraid to speak out.

Could not agree more, Daniel is such a steady hand in defence and offers so much more than just his on field impact, his type of character is so very important to have around the club guiding our youngsters especially during a rebuild. He's one player I'd dearly like to keep at the club post his footballing days.

We want to rebuild whilst making the 8. It's crystal clear to me. Seniors are safe, even Mackay still a chance for another year. But, gut feel is that Talia will have to accept year to years from here. And maybe not early in each season either.

Wrong again.

Of course it's not. Why would we allow that to happen? Why didn't the other clubs that submitted offers to Brad know about this? Why hasn't there been even a whisper of other issues prior to the last 3-4 weeks? Even after the coke bust, nothing suggesting he's a regular party boy. Where's the second strike suspension?

If you listened there's been plenty of whispers over the years.
