Distinction between Ladhams or Hayes value to us. what a side might be willing to pay and their actual worth.

Let’s face it. These are two young rucks that have shown a bit and have question marks on them (knee, off field, etc). They aren’t world beaters, nor established performers.

Now several clubs are in the market for a ruck and may be desperate enough to over pay.

To us they are the next in line and will carry us for a decade. But no one is paying a first rounder for one of these two. Have a look at recent ruck trades. It doesn’t happen and nor should it.

You make your price known up front. Don't ever let it get to a point where they are already out the door.

agreed. If we aren't getting a big name player through FA, we should start using the cash to lock people down. He is certainly one that is not overpaid. Keep on giving 2-3 year extensions mid contract. We should never let it get to a point where someone is out of contract. You are getting the most buy in right now and we have the cash to lock people into the club for a long time. Don't even let it become a thought in their head that they are leaving.

Depends on the draft class but I'd be talking pick 5-10, and that's only if we had a specific player in mind that we thought we could get that would contribute more to our side than Ladhams would.

10-15 pick, or a player of need and a pick in the 20-30 range (something GWS would entertain).

Ladhams is one of the best young rucks in the league, has the natural ability to go forward and lead out of the goal square which very few rucks can do, and his work around the ground is exemplary for a player who hasn't even played 20 games in the AFL. We've got an absolute gem here and we just need to continue playing him in this role.

Even if he doesn't turn into a pure #1 ruck down the line, he is already a very good player in his role as the 2nd ruck/3rd KPF, and those are hard to come by. Absolutely wouldn't even consider trading him.

I would like to keep Hayes as well because you need 3 rucks on your list. We are just fortunate that our 3rd ruck has shown a fair bit at SANFL level. Even though Lycett has 3 years to go on his contract, I suspect he only has 1 more year in him before he will have to be managed.

The other thing that is lost in all of this is that the nearest comparisons to him are considerably shorter. He's 6'8 and well into the big boys. Ryder is 6'5 and alot of the agile talls are around 6'6. The only player as agile as him at that height is Harris Andrews and he's a ****ing gun. He will develop his ruck craft and hopefully has another 5kgs left in him and he could be a genuine top 3-5 ruckman while still offering 10000% more than everyone else.

We play him to his limitations and he’ll be a superstar. Anyone suggesting that there was any possibility that a trade would be considered involving Pete even if he requested a trade may as well put Butters️ out there as well.
