With 10 of 18 votes, they don't need the Non-Vic teams. We need a strong GWS and GC (off-field), to try and force the AFL to let the likes of Saints, North, Melbourne hit the wall and merge or disappear.
If the NFL in the US had been run by the people here that run the AFL:
Ohio would be the centre of the universe, the Super Bowl would be played there every year.
A couple of teams from Texas and California would have been admitted as cash cows to prop up teams like the Akron Pros, Dayton Triangles and Columbus Panhandles.
A couple of joke franchises would have been set up in Canada to grab a piece of the large and affluent Canadian market while the football mad South would be ignored because they don't have enough people or money.
A conundrum I agree, but he Suns would be the ones to fold, not GWS. The population growth slated for Western Sydney over the next 20 years is astronomical! In fact, over the next 12 years, the increase alone is projected to be more than Adelaide's entire population! The thirst for AFL will grow incrementally too. They need to be kept going & will be important to the comp IMO.
