Everyone else

- we recognise this player wants to go elsewhere and has factors that mean he isn’t worth a great deal

Dodoro

- I want your soul
This absolutely this.
Port get deals done and our players get to club of choice.
Dodoro in contrast...is a d head and insulting to other list negotiators.
We should walk away, gazump him by dealing with another club this year and get Fanta next year.

Forget the crows, this is also a big miscalculation by CD as well unfortunately.

We had the opportunity to secure a gun midfileder for 600 grand a year, a reasonable amount on a reasonable length deal, and instead we are now sitting here in desperate need of some added quality mids, all because we thought that the crows would match a deal and force a trade and that our offer wouldn't be enough to secure him through FA.

Yet after all that we could have offered a reasonable deal and got the player we wanted. Instead we were afraid the deal we wanted to offer and thought reasonable wasn't gonna get the job done, but in the end it actually did.

The Crows are massive losers in this, but I also think that we have made a serious miscalculation and lost out big time here.

You don’t know what our club’s thinking was though. You can guess...I guess.

If we had have offered him $650k over 5 years it would be madness, and people here would be rioting! We put an offer in, St Kilda blitzed it, and we walked away. Fair enough IMO.

It was 4 years with a trigger, I would've given that in a heart beat. Most people on this side suggested deals of this sort of value over 4 years when we were hoping he'd come here. With our cap space its absolutely a fair deal and a massive shame we have missed out.

CD seemed to make it pretty clear that to get Crouch it was going to be difficult as we had no ability to trade for him, and we weren't willing to pay or sign him long enough to get the Crows pick 2.

In hindsight he was signed to a pretty much market rate deal for a guy like him on a reasonable 4 year term with a trigger.

We obviously wanted to maintain our integrity and not risk promising something we can't deliver but there's no doubt now that it was a missed opportunity in hindsight

lol why did they wait the full amount of time? no other reason other than optics to their fans to pretend they had no other choice
Standard Crows, 2 minutes to make the decision and then hours working out how to spin it to look good

We'd be better off getting games into Farrell and Woodcock than paying any price for Fantasia.

Or Williams, Bergman or Burgoyne. With a resurgent Motlop and Gray aging like a fine wine. At the other end of the scale Rozee or even Butters could be anything as small forwards though to make them permanent would be a waste. and SPP is growing into his defensive role really well I don't get where the mindset of 'we must deal with Essendon for Fantasia'. The more interest you show, the more unreasonable they seem to become until it becomes a food-fight and somebody losses an eye.

I just think this is a position where someone on our list is going to have a good year and round and round it goes until someone puts their hand up and says this position is mine (ok there is more than one spot). I much rather see the same time being spend looking into a tall defender that suits our gameplan.

IF one wanted to be alarmist and I don't, you could say we have lost KPD over the last five years. Ok, they were Austin, Trengove, Hombsch, Howard and Westhoff. Still, you can't just keep bleeding a particular resource without starting to look thin in that area. Which we already do.

You expect all players to hopefully come back bigger or thinner, stronger, faster and more skilled. You can't plant them in manure and make them grow however and different positions lend themselves to players of different sizes.

Re-rookie Chad Cornes.

I think you are in the minority mate. I was ok to get him, but IMO he is tainted, and his body has a huge ? on it. He was only worth getting at a bargain.

I would have offered that pre the cocaine saga. Port has significantly strengthened team morale and cohesiveness, Crouch would not be a good fit after hat transpired a few weeks back.

Nah, we were right to not offer him 5 years with his injury and professionalism question marks. Just like Polec.
