AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Ha ha yeah.give them the 2007 GF or we walk
Maybe, but I would be very surprised if CD and Cripps are not chatting at some stage tonight, post that decision by the crows, and saying to themselves "shit, they weren't going to match! He was gettable for a fair FA rate". There's literally zero doubt in my mind we thought the Crows would match unless pick 2 was on offer.I think you are in the minority mate. I was ok to get him, but IMO he is tainted, and his body has a huge ? on it. He was only worth getting at a bargain.
I think if we were willing to offer him 5 years we would have gotten him.Maybe, but I would be very surprised if CD and Cripps are not chatting at some stage tonight, post that decision by the crows, and saying to themselves "sh*t, they weren't going to match! He was gettable for a fair FA rate". There's literally zero doubt in my mind we thought the Crows would match unless pick 2 was on offer.
In the era of list management Crouch was a gun the Saints have basically gotten now for free, with very limited risk. They took the risk the Crows wouldn't match and they won.
We move on, but I was disappointed when we pulled out of the race, and even more so now given the deal was not even inflated.
At least we have this for entertainment.

The fact that the Crows didn't match the Saints offer is no proof that they wouldn't have matched our offer. For a club more concerned with spin than substance, they would've found it a lot harder to give Port Adelaide a freebie than they would've done to St Kilda.
This is probably true. The fact that the Crows didn't match the Saints offer is no proof that they wouldn't have matched our offer. For a club more concerned with spin than substance, they would've found it a lot harder to give Port Adelaide a freebie than they would've done to St Kilda.
Forget the crows, this is also a big miscalculation by CD as well unfortunately.
We had the opportunity to secure a gun midfileder for 600 grand a year, a reasonable amount on a reasonable length deal, and instead we are now sitting here in desperate need of some added quality mids, all because we thought that the crows would match a deal and force a trade and that our offer wouldn't be enough to secure him through FA.
Yet after all that we could have offered a reasonable deal and got the player we wanted. Instead we were afraid the deal we wanted to offer and thought reasonable wasn't gonna get the job done, but in the end it actually did.
The Crows are massive losers in this, but I also think that we have made a serious miscalculation and lost out big time here.
I have always seen him as a bit of a plodder with pick 23 close to his market valueBrouch is absolutely NOT a "gun midfielder".
He is a good midfielder amd i thought a mid to late teens pick would be about right. Pick 2 was way over and pick 23, for a compensation pick, is ok and acceptable.I have always seen him as a bit of a plodder with pick 23 close to his market value
Kane dining out on this now.
His dad should have.It sounds like Tom doesn’t know when it’s time to pull out.

It seems all the people that deserted their SANFL clubs for a brand new crows franchise are quitting on their club again. You got to have a read of the crouch thread on the crows board is **** ing fantastic!!
Flick to about page 9 that’s when the membership cards start to burn haha.
I think there's more triggers than just the 5th year. The AFL stated they'd given the Crows a second round pick, rather than stating an end of first round pick. Which puts him in Band 3, not Band 2.It was 4 years with a trigger, I would've given that in a heart beat. Most people on this side suggested deals of this sort of value over 4 years when we were hoping he'd come here. With our cap space its absolutely a fair deal and a massive shame we have missed out.
They waited until Nov 4 to allow the deadline to just pass...
