Crouch is critical to us sustaining a competitive top 4 level if Wines leaves at the end of the season, not saying we couldn't make 4 without Wines but we'd be pushing our luck relying on veterans.

If Wines stays he & Crouch would essentially allow for us to dominate clearance and contested ball winning ability if there was a drop off in form due to age of one of Boak or Rockliff (to a lesser extent Gray but he can play forward obviously, where the others can't really). Would be a challenge if all of Boak, Rockliff, Wines & Crouch were fit and firing but that might be less likely with a return to normal length quarters and a 22 game minor round.

I agree with another tall defender as well, but not sure who would be good and gettable, would be more of a depth aquisition.

Prioritising run and carry from half-back seems a bit odd...unless Bonner is out the door already?

totally agree. rocky and boak arent getting any younger. Perfect age for us.

The HBF i dont see as a massive massive need, especially with jones on the list to next year. But i guess Hartlett isnt getting younger and Bonner far from a best 22 lock and most probably gone, DBJ and houston also push through the midfield at times.

KPD is a must though!

We’ve got lots of good two way medium defenders / halfbacks

Dbj , Houston, Hartlett in the first side

Bergman Garner and jones.

Lienert and bonner.

How many of those are line breaking run and carry though? Dbj yeah I think so. Hartlett and Houston to some degree but not outright. It’s likely why we have persisted with bonner.

We’ve got a lot of strong options but not many of them are outright linebreakers.

Having said that I’m not a huge fan of linebreakers who only play one way, which is the only sort we would be likely to jar free from anywhere.

It also needs to be taken into account the complete mismanagement of that groin injury a few years ago.

He wanted to have the surgery as recommended by Simon Black, who he flew up to see as he had the same issues.

Burton wouldn't allow it. Ended up missing nearly triple the time he would've had he had the surgery like he wanted.

I didn't see the interview, but apparently someone asked CD about the possibility that Bass would go back to the crows. CD said something about why would you want to leave Port in their current situation to go to the crows. Someone on the crows board said that CD had been quite scratchy, and took that as a sign that there was truth in the rumour.

Nah, he's always like that, he just doesn't suffer fools.

If preparation and attitude count for anything we are in a pretty good place. The whole club seems to have an ideal approach and focus on our finals campaign. Plenty of belief, but no-one seems to be getting ahead of themselves.
