Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

No chance suns will take Callaghan and Crows Ward leaves us with Hobbs, not the worse thing but I wanted both Callaghan and Ward
Hobbs would be a badass result for us. I reckon he could play forward as well.

We need someone more like Burgoyne as a mid rather than yet another guy who plays primarily inside.
That's why I'm so keen on Lil Nas WM - even if it's with a later pick. We have to get him or someone like him into the team.
We are so lacking in polish and composure.

Callaghan is obviously the dream target for us at this point.
Not sure how that gets done, but if Tom really wanted to look elsewhere it would suit our list management IMO.

Happy with Hobbs, but reckon he goes top 3.
Think we need to trade up, to advoid this situation. Hobbs is more of the same we have, with Titch, O'Meara, Newcombe, Shiels, Worpel. I'm not looking forward to another sub 183 mid, who can't run and spread and play many other positions, with a poor kick.

Callaghan needs to be our guy, perfect balance of elite pace and endurance. It is what makes Sam Walsh so lethal, his cruising speed is unmatched, no one can keep up with him. Imagine a starting midfield in 2025, with Worpel, Callaghan, Day, Reeves. That is exciting, with its versatility, speed and balance in bulls and explosiveness at the stoppages.

Hobbs is another Selwood. As much as I hate Joel, it wouldn't be a bad result.

Ward, Knevitt/Goater, Taylor/Clarke/Motlop would be a very good haul.
As much as I'm bummed that we mightn't add to our draft hand through the trade period, I'm really excited with the picks we have.
I really hope we can target a Will Day -esque selection with one of our first three; someone who bolts out of the gate, but only a few recognise too late.

Brady Hough fits that category for mine. Will be curious to see where he lands

If we somehow know that Ward and Callaghan will be gone by our pick, and we are looking at Hobbs over Erasmus, then it's even more of a reason to trade Mitchell out. Hobbs can come in and play a role in his first season.

Burgers was as good as they come on the inside. Tough as anything and could win clearances for fun. His skills on the outside where the icing on the cake.

From what I’ve heard of Nas WM. He plays very, very outside but with good skills. Seems like the sort of guy who would struggle at a higher level against bigger bodies.

Hobbs looks like a stock standard, meat and potatoes inside mid.
Absolutely nothing he does in this clip stands out as an elite attribute that we need more of on the list.

If he can tackle well, provide pressure, win clearances and contested ball consistently. That’s a huge tick in my book. Something we’ve been absolutely struggling with. Especially from our midfield.

If you do the basics well you don’t need to be flashy. These guys are the heavy lifters in any team. And are very important to finishing high up the ladder.

Well have Nash and Newcombe especially good at the tackle and pressure at clearances.
Worpel and JOM aren't too bad at it either.

Those guys have potential but I wouldn’t be passing up Hobbs for them, especially if we rate him the best available.

If we rate someone higher then we take them.

Our inside/enforcer brigade is seriously promising imo.
Throw in Finn and Howe as well and we've got six big bodies who like to be in the contest and dishing out the pressure.

So many choices and not enough draft picks in the 25-35 range, we may end up with another from Geelong if Ceglar goes. There will sure to be further names that go out and come in the following weeks. If we do not trade out any of current midfielders, even Knevitt/Taylor maybe too much. It all depends how keen we are to get Ward in or split picks. Either way with 2 picks in the 20s many choices there- knevitt, Taylor, Bazzo, etc there may even be some sliders like Chesser, small fwd (clarke) If we are going for quality and slightly longer rebuild, then yes our pick 5 is most critical. As we have seen the past good players can come from any pick but chances are less, we have had Sicily, Stratton from later picks.

These AFL Highlight packages are terrible, The AFL with all its resources cant even get that right, guys like giantroo and others make better highlight packages imo

Might be on my own but i get the feeling JHF will go home after his 1st contract.

Safest option would be North draft Callaghan but can't see North passing on JHF

Not fussed either way with Pick 5 (Pick 7 for the challenged)....we will get a very good player
