Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Horne is a better selection than Daicos.

Daicos is good for 40 touches and a goal against other kids, but he is lacking in defensive qualities and will be quickly found out at AFL level unless he really puts the work in (not to suggest he won't, but I worry about how his current game would transfer to senior level).

Horne is already proving his talent against men.

I have a gut feeling that even if Adelaide somehow finish below us they’ll take Roberts. So my personal favourite should still be available.

Given our injuries + form I guess it’s up to North to win two games if we want Horne. Adelaide & Carlton probably their biggest chances.
Who do you like this year Vando?

Love Horne but not getting attached.

Callaghan has shot up pretty quickly and I’m fairly biased now. Incredible mover in traffic, reliable disposal, great speed and inside/outside capabilities. Great size. Flexibility to play wing, mid or even half-back. Fantastic rate of improvement which usually suggests a high ceiling. Only weakness is he’s below average with contested ball winning which is a definite area of improvement. Having watched some vision I don’t agree with some suggestions he’s timid.

Ward is fairly high up now. I love Zac Butters and I see similarities in Ward. One of the few 180cm players whose game I think will translate to AFL level.

Got on the Erasmus hype train early. Have no clue why he’s playing PSA footy instead of Colts or League. Could see him drop which would be amazing. Kicking needs some refinement but think he’ll be something special.

Haven’t seen enough of Goater but heard good things and liked the snippets. Athletic profile fits the modern day gun footballer.

Really like Wilmot (half back so surplus to needs) & Gibcus (many similarities to a young Rance including the bad kicking). I’m also a fan of Sinn even though I think he’s regressed this year.

pretty sure players who are playing in PSA have to commit to the school over club footy. Part of the school enrolment. That is why Erasmus has been limited in Subiaco games. Same goes for Rhett Bazzo from Swan Districts, who is a highly rated Key Defender and has to play for Guildford Grammar first. Will see a fair bit of them during the WAFL finals and Under 19 national comp.

I'd love to see us get Finn as our first pick and get the sliding Erasmus. Tbh Erasmus kicking isn't as bad as i feel you're saying, like he can be inconsistent abit like Sinn in the way he takes the game on and wants the hardest kick possible. His skill and ceiling is unbelievable, he's super clean and through traffic or outside, can play fwd and mid a real damaging prospect.

The chat on our board is to take Horne at 1 as he is simply better than Daicos and we shouldn't be f*cking around with bids unless we truly want the player. As for us winning two more games, just cannot see it happening.

Because the club wouldn't want it or because the ability isn't there to do so ?
I can't think of a worse way to look at competitive sport, even as a fan, than to hope your team loses. But you can't blame clubs & supporters for feeling this way.
I'm 50/50 on hoping to see my team win on any given game this year and its not what sport should embody.
I can't for the life of me think of why the AFL doesn't do something to mitigate this issue. Bring in a lottery or play in for picks at the end of the year.
My fix...bottom 4 play off at the end of the regular season. Winner gets top pick.. This year would be North, Hawks, Crows and Magpies as of right now...I don't think any team would be overwhelming favorite to win a play off for the top pick. A proper Horne cup, rather than the tank version.

This seems to logical and straight forward. Can you throw in a multi-club trade hypothetical to give us something to talk about? 🤪

If we do finish last I hope we put a bid on Darcy before Daicos as I think a Darcy type would really help as in the future. Before we take Horne if that’s who we want.
