I left Rotham out of my rd 1 team due to height otherwise I would replace him for Nelson
I don't don't think Rotham's height is an issue. He isn't a true KPD and generally plays smaller than what he is. I seem him as a taller Shep that can play on a variety of forwards.

Hey guys, fantasy question here.

Just wondering if the Eagles have any draftees from either 2020, or the last couple years who are doing well in the intra-club games/scratch match from this week. Would you expect them to be best 22?

Thanks in advance.

No use picking any of our guys going by yesterday's Scratch Match thread The world has ended and the club is folding today.

Oneil would be the most likely but its not gauranteed. Jones is likely for rd 1 but was a mature age pick up from Geelong.

So Rotham cant step in to the Schofield role?
Look the good thing for him is that Schoey really became a true KPD around 2015 but then again did spend a but of time playing on talls before then. I can see Josh playing on the third talls and the powerful resting inside mids but I’d be worried if he had to line up on the big boys

TBH Josh is a lot more Shep than Schoey. He'll make a name for himself in the team this year and become a mainstay.

For me I want Rotham to be that defender that can hold a De Goey type of hybrid forward or Dusty/fyfe/danger. This sort of guys always tend to play well against us.

We need that 3rd tall that can pinch hit & cover McGovern & Barass - if we were to lose either I can only see Oscar.

He played FB early days through East Perth having no fullbacks through injury and did well so him as a third tall works perfectly. His first game v Pies at the G he looked so confident and for me he will play a lot of games.

Harry Edward is the next cab off the ranks. I rate him very highly

I think Oscar will spend more time in defence this year, and that might push Harry back a bit.

He'll play the swingman role without pinch hitting in the ruck.

Vardy/Williams will be 2nd ruck, and when they are resting forward, Allen will be in defence.

Fits in with both Nic needing a true 2nd ruck, and requirements for more flexibility around secondary roles due to fewer rotations.

Can we not mess around with Oscar. I'm not wanting him to ruck either and just want to see him play purely as a forward.

I was a bit surprised to see him play down back, and it might be just so Barrass/McGovern could manage their minutes.

If Allen isn't 2nd ruck, that creates an issue with being too tall when 2nd ruck is resting forward.

So when Nic is rucking and 2nd ruck is resting forward, Allen will be in defence.

I think it is worth seeing how much time he spends down back this weekend in what I am expecting to be a truer hit out.

Every young player has to play a role to get in to a team. That's just part of earning your stripes.

Sheppard , Barrass , Cole
Duggan , McGovern , Hurn
Gaff , Kelly , Shuey
Cripps , Allen , Brander
Ryan , Darling , JK

Naitanui , Yeo , Sheed

Interchange - Williams , Jones , Redden , H Edwards .

Forward line too tall but Jones to play time in the forward line .

You even managed to squeeze Hedwards in there. Woosha would be proud.

I don't like him in the ruck either, but don't mind him spending a bit of time in defence until Kennedy retires. It's a handy way to learn a few tricks from his opponents before he heads up forward for good.
