Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.

Gold Coast is likely to make just three selections at the draft but comes into the trade period holding eight picks.

Hawthorn discussed ways to get Gold Coast’s Pick 3 but it now seems almost certain that will remain at the Suns. Their next two selections will be in the 60s, assuming pick 19 heads to North Melbourne in a Darcy MacPherson deal.

Rosas, MacPherson want to stay, Chol coming in. Something has to give.

Is Darcy any good? Is he the pressure forward we are looking for?

Not really a pressure forward. Was good in 2019 as a 21 year old but has stagnated since (injuries have contributed).

Signed a lucrative 3 year deal in the middle of his good year which the Gold Coast are trying to get off their books.

Worth it for a pick upgrade as a salary dump and him coming good would be a bonus. Him wanting a longer deal (than matching the 1 year) is a smart play by him in the circumstances but is also risky (as he may end up staying without an extension and then gets delisted at the end of the year)

Depending on the deal (pick 3 in a swap, pick 19 outright) I'd be happy for us to do it but I reckon 2 years should be the max (can build in triggers for the third). List spots have value and 3 years is too long for a dump.

Can't believe we aren't in MacPherson's ear. Give him the choice of North vs Hawks. Gold Coast want him out and we could easily jump on the pick 19 deal. So no reason why we can't get pick 19 instead. That would give us 4 picks in the top 25 and all we give up is some salary and a later pick. Pick 3 sounds like a non-start but pick 19 looks like it is going to be handed out for peanuts. That is the sort of pick we would get for Gunston.

Goddard has watched Tim play and thinks he is an intercept marking backman 🤣🤣 please.

if Tim could hold 3 out 4 marking attempts well then he could be that player but when he drops 3 out 4 he ain’t that player

is there actually a precedent of them knocking one back? If both teams and player are happy?
yes

we had a super deal knocked back in 2011 that would have got us a pre access draft pick - was knocked back because GWS had to trade them out but the deal would have got one given back to them

Collingwood wanted to trade Chris Mayne and a decent draft pick to North (or back to Freo) but were knocked back

Pretty sure there was the deal with Mayne and a pick going to freo with nothing going back that the AFL said no to.

That wasn’t really a trade though. I feel this trade between suns and North might only go
through as the AFL wants it to happen. Will block other attempted deals most likely.

they didn't say no to Geelong trading 2019 pick 27 for Gold Coast 2020 pick 11 so it does depend on the clubs involved

They're holding out for Mundy. Might give Freo 6 of their youngest for him.
They probably do think like that. We'll give you two 23 year olds for a 46 year old. Or how about an 18 year old and a 19 year old for a 37 year old? We could do that.

Or how about we give up players aged 21, 23, 26 and 22 for two players aged 31 and a 30 year old.

That was a ridiculous trade. AFL really should have stepped in stop the suns shooting themselves in the foot.

Though the did say yes to our trade with the Saints in 2016 that was also crazily weighted in the Saints favour.
