To maximize their audience it will be a tie between Richmond, Essendon, Collingwood & Carlton.

Gonna be hard to argue for the last two there though lol.
Collingwood will get A+ across the board for getting Daicos.
Will be interesting to see if the media narrative is similar for Ashcroft to us next year.

They funniest thing about Daicos going at 4 is that Collingwood could've had Callaghan and Daicos from this draft (even if they would've had to provide some incentive for North not to bid).
And they could only bid on Blake Coleman that high because they made that stupid trade. So I don't feel bad for them in any way.

A+ for Collingwood because Daicos slipped to pick 4.
Absolute Bargain Basement at that pick (will be the narrative)

If I remember correctly they traded back in just above us placed the bid then traded back out without making a selection.

Is there any indication of what time the draft will actually kick off? ie will they start the draft selections at 6pm (Qld time) or do I need to factor in a period of pre-draft David King and co?

Would like to know as well, hoping to have dinner finished so I can relax and enjoy the draft but 6 PM is cutting it fine

Another comment quarantine for new draftees etc and console said today more than likely new year arrivals as we have discussed. Interestingly I saw Levi Casboult and family have now relocated (2 weeks ago) to the Gold Coast 🤔 they must have applied ages ago.
We’re still trying to get Cam Bruce and family up let alone the draftees.

Unfortunately picks 13-19 are gettable because the clubs don't rate the talent available at these picks

I think the GWS pick will be a good one, they probably want one of Howes or Butler so can move down a little. I think one of Sinn, Goater or NWM will be available at 13.

And you wont hear that from any club but it does happen...even from Northern clubs. If you think about it, clubs having to cash in their picks earlier because another club nominated their academy player is in most situations strategic.
We have certainly had it happen to us a couple of times over recent years...I'm sure there are recent examples.

Twomey in his final phantom has us taking Wilmot at 16 and JVR at 20, from the pre draft coverage.

Might be just me but Darcy Wilmot reminds me a bit of Elliot Yeo when he was at the club. A bit rough around the edges but has speed, takes the game on and is tough both in the air and on the ground. Has a fair bit of upside if you ask me.
That's an interesting comparison. I think the interesting thing about Yeo was that no-one was really sure what he'd be at senior level, if anything. It feels like Wilmot has been pigeon-holes a bit by the draft observers but maybe the clubs are seeing a different level of capability.

If Wilmot is seen by clubs as even somewhat midfield relevant, he starts to become quite an interesting prospect.

Would we be open to trading pick 18 (20) and 41 for Richmond's 26 and 27? Especially if Wilmot, Chesser, Butler, Sinn and Goater are all off the board? I think Richmond will be throwing out deals all night to try and grab a third pick in the first round.
I think the club have been as clear as they possibly can be that we're taking two firsts to the draft this year.
