How could you possibly know right now?
I remember when we drafted Elliot Yeo earlier than he was projected and people were calling it a reach, then we found out that several other clubs came up to our recruiters and congratulated us on pipping them at the post.

No an analysis of what we have given up over the last couple of years for this pick, only to take a guy that would have been available ten or twenty picks later is just shit house management.

I did wonder when I heard the Ballarat connection. We do love boys from out western Victoria
Model's his game on Jack Crisp's apparently, hopefully doesn't model his career off him too!

The jury is still out on the 2018 draft, doesn't help half of them had bad injuries. 2019 draft we did very well with the picks we had. 2020 still way too early to tell.

Lions Welcome 'Excitement Machine', Kai Lohmann
Kai Lohmann will provide plenty of flair to the Lions forward line.
The Lions have gone back to a successful hunting ground with the selection of Kai Lohmann with pick 20 in the NAB AFL Draft.
The Club’s second pick comes from the same footballing nursery in Ballarat that produced Hugh McCluggage, the Berry brothers, Tom and Jarrod and Harry Sharp.
Lohmann played on the wing and across half back at 16s level for Vic Country, however he has been used with great effect across half forward this season in a strong Greater Western Victoria Rebels team.
Considered one of the more eye-catching players in the draft, Lohmann roared up the draft rankings this season with his ability to sniff out a goal.
Considered equally dangerous in the air or crumbing at ground level, National Recruiting Manager Stephen Conole describes Lohmann as a competitive player that demonstrates high level AFL traits with his strong overhead marking for his size, pace and willingness to attack the game.
He ranked fourth in the 20m spring test among Vic Country draft prospects.
“We are super excited to bring Kai into the Club,’’ he said.
“He is a very talented and competitive young player, who played through this season predominately as a high half forward, however he has played on the wing and across half back at 16s level for Vic Country through his Junior years.
“Kai has a great skill set to be an exciting player for the footy club –- he is extremely strong overhead for his size, has quick feet and an attacking mindset in the way he likes to play the game.’’

Based on our recent recruiting I have no confidence he's worth pick 20 let alone the picks we gave up to have pick 20
Really hope he becomes an awesome player. But RookieMe are pointing out that he needs to work on his goalkicking, having kicked 2.10 in his first 7 games. "Another sharpshooter" might be a bit of a stretch from the media team.

They got that full article about Lohmann up on the website fast. He was clearly a major target for us going in.

People seem to forget these recruiters do this for a living and have seen more of these players than anyone, and also know them on a personal level. It doesn't matter if a phantom draft didn't rank him highly. Have some faith in our recruiters.
Now I see the link with him being a Lions type player.
I don't want to seem overly dramatic here, but there goes any chance of us winning a premiership ever again.

Kai came through the ranks at my local club alongside Sam Butler and Kai has always been considered the better player. Capable of the freakish highlights plays but also competitive and hungry at the contest. Can sometimes try and do too much and will give the odd free kick away trying to fly for mark of the year but also just as likely to one day take mark of the year.
Super clean and biggest downfall this season was his conversion in front of goals, had he been more accurate he would have had a much bigger following from the general draft watcher compared what he did have such is some of the reactions on here.
