The floating bye is crap. No club would want to be the team stuck with the rd1 bye. Or having the bye in rd22 when you know you cant make finals then coming back for 1 meaningless game.

Competition having an event amount of teams is just better symmetry.

There isn't anywhere to put a 20th team which is one of the reasons why I don't think Tassie should be added.
NT most likely

Unless there's a timetable announced by the end of the year for Tassie, Gutwein will withdraw the $8M funding that Tasmania kicks into the AFL each and every year. If that happens then North will be in danger of folding unless the AFL foots the bill even more.

In the end its TV revenue that supports the game and they want product and eyes on the screens. They don't care where its played.

Why would 20 be so much better than 19?

Sure, you have 10 games every week, but what do you do with your fixture? Everyone play once? 9 home, 9 away, 1 "neutral"?

I guess that could work. Would just have to ensure that the neutral venue games really were such.

Where would you base Team 20? I've seen people talk about both Cairns & the "Perth Royal Falcons" before.
Carter debunked that as well on the radio today. Said lots of major sporting organisations worldwide have an odd amount of teams. They just deal with it but we whinge about it. They spoke about the NT having a team but not sure they would get the membership.

And they said an extra team wouldn’t add any revenue. North will just a bigger dividend. They get less than us and have no debt.

I dont think Gutwein is mucking around either. This puts Gutless Gill on the backfoot and he hates being there. Maybe if he gets rid of his "cabinet" perhaps 10/12 people on $800k a year plus then he can bail out North. Pigs Arse.

Odd amount of teams doesn’t me. It’s the standard that really worries me. Covid is going to stop a lot of kids playing the game. It’s going to be a huge long term effect.

I like your play each team once and reverse fixture idea mate. I think they should do that now.

Gutless? Why? I love people who are never happy with any CEO. Actually if people were happy they wouldn’t be doing their job.

Canberra, NT, rural SA would all work economically IMO.

I’m not sure less games would be popular. I’d be 100% no and it’s still not completely fair anyway. The only fair way is playing each other twice and that is never happening
Once with reverse fixture is also more fair

Hawthorn competitive against the Dogs so far, hoping they win just to make Jeff Kennett look even more stupid for getting rid of Clarko.

Don't rate the Dogs, if the umpires aren't giving them an armchair ride they are a very ordinary side.

It is the most wide open premiership race this year. We should’ve been in it!

Yeah at our best with a close to full strength team we could beat anyone in the Top 8, unfortunately we probably won't get the chance to make it.

Just hoping the Dogs don't win it, can't stand the way they play and the armchair ride they get, but from what I've seen today I don't think they will.

Love a dogs dees grand final. I love how the dogs flick the ball around and I’d love the dees winning it.

I'd love to see the Dees beat the Dogs in a GF, going on current form I think they would but I don't think the Dogs will even make it that far.

Why would the AFL let North fold, any more than they'd let us or Melbourne or the Dogs fold?
