I ask myself what would I have found if I was on the jury.

Firstly there was no doubt in my mind that the contact was not forceful but was disrespectful. It may have been aggressive and demonstrative but I am not sure. So on guilt, guilty for disrespectful contact only.

Now on to sentencing. The AFL asked for 6 weeks and this is a reasonable basis to begin. In the circumstances is there any reason to make it less? In my opinion yes. Firstly I agree with the argument that finals are worth more, so in my mind 3 weeks if it was 3 finals might just be worth 6 weeks. Afterall what 3 weeks has done is said to Toby, even if the fairytale happens & GWS wins the flag you will not be a premiership player. Add to this the simple fact that Toby is GWS's best player, by losing him the chances of winning any further finals are lowered.

But three weeks even given the above just seems a little low, the message of four weeks would be, not only are you going to miss all finals this year but regardless of what happens you will miss some games next year. So four weeks for me.

If the tribunal had given reasons for the three weeks, and it was something like the above maybe the AFL would not be so upset at the result.

The West Australian understands McGuire had applied for entry into WA for himself and his two sons, Alexander and Joseph, who were listed on the application as producers for his production company, JAMTV, despite them not being listed on the media company’s official website as employees.
