Been a big exodus from Geelong this year off field.
Earlier this year... Stephen Wells, recruitment manager. Then Matthew Knights and Corey Enright as assistant coaches and now Brian Cook (who was retiring) is now heading to Carlton.
Looks like the preamble to a rebuild about to occur...

Oh....and Josh Jenkins is retiring too.
They're all getting out before they become associated with one of the longest, hardest rebuilds ever

There have been some great moments in the last week or so, and much hilarity at Port's expense, but this takes the cake.
The level of delusion is impressive. The thought that they should actually send this? Bizarre. Did they think it was going to have an impact on Gawn? I wonder if they sent it to other players as well?

Meanwhile, the level of spin they have absorbed and regurgitated is hilarious.
Some favourites:

"History in the Making" - marketing spin
"Our trophy" - delusional
"Home to Port Adelaide where it belongs" - delusional
"Another wasted year" - oh the irony!
"Wishing you were like the mighty Port Adelaide" - delusional
"We are the most successful team in the AFL" - hilarious.
"We will never give in" - marketing spin

Amazing.

Hilarious that he had to include his number because no one ever saw him wear it.

Would have been funny if he referred to it as 'the famous #11'. Then he'd have been having a crack at himself whilst getting his jibe in at the club. It's a weird troll though, Crouch accepted 2 years, surely if Cats had any interest they'd have had a fair shot at him. That said, I'm of the view that he could be getting overs in terms of $.

Rendell has over valued a few players here. No way guys like Byrne-Jones and Farrell are worth a high second round pick. He admits Hayes is is the third Ruckman behind Lycett and Ladhams but then says he is could be worth a low first round pick but most likely a second.

Hearing him on SEN the other day, he knew what he was a doing a few years back but I think he's lost touch.

Rendell hasn’t had ‘it’ since he left list management.

fwiw Its a shame that Josh did not finish up with us. He was very good for us on the field. 147 games 296 goals. If he only concentrated on football he would have been a hero here.

Saying that he was divisive if reports are true and some reports suggest he was a leaker of info. That was his making and I hope in time all is forgiven.

If true, and it sounds as though it is, then I don't forgive him. His behaviour didn't help the club. Smacks of the sense of entitlement that seemed to pervade the senior group on our list in recent years.

Josh thought he was bigger than what he was .....so became quite opinionated and refused to listen to Coach's that tried to change the way he played

His argument was he had been a success playing as he had .....but the Club was trying to institute a different gameplan and change how he fitted into that plan ......his stubbornness cut short his career, and how wrong he was demonstrated by the 1 game in 2 years at GEEL

Carlton coaching job apparently down to Voss or Kingsley. Unless Clarko wants it.

Hmm let’s see..Kingsley from a club who won 3 out of the past 4 flags..or Voss from a club who…

Which would be the easier sell to the faithful??

I see his leaking as a form of whistleblowing. That he and Pyke ended on poor terms is a tick in his favour.

Is there a way we could get a hold of their 2022 1st rounder. I think it might be better than what many might think
Chris Scott still has a year to run on his contract but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's not coaching Geelong next year.

Question to ponder...
In your opinion who is closest to winning their next flag. Geelong or Adelaide?

the entitlement didn't change, we've seen it with Talia this year and last. Kelly having a go at the kids over our shirt start last year. It's the Neil Craig 3 tiered system in full force.

Ken, Koch and Davies keep talking about how there’s still improvement left in the group and how the loss will drive them forward

I wish a journo would ask them how the loss is going to hold them back - those players will be badly affected by that for years. Best chance to overcome that is a clean start with a new coach, rather than seeing the same old Kenny and instinctively knowing that nothing’s changed

Oh well..
No talk of their reliance on Boak, Gray, Dixon & Jonas... who are are all over 30.

seems like we've been saying it for years, but surely next year is Cats' last crack. If they don't win it, they're 2-3 years behind our version of a rebuild. And I don't see Melbourne or Dogs getting worse. ****ed if I can see the cats getting better.

Port have 2 more players aged 26 or over than us. Of the above, only Boak had a good season, the others were good at times. They do need to bring players through to improve, but I don't see a massive cliff with performance that others do. They'll likely improve by holding senior players accountable for form and being more patient with the group underneath. I doubt Ken's got it in him though.

Cat's can't possibly improve. If their youngsters want out like is rumoured, the cliff has arrived. It will be a very interesting off season at kardinia park.

Yes, their big fall off a cliff is not far away.

Looks like Scott has organised his out to Carlton with Cook heading there as CEO.

a good season doesn't mean we had a good system and good people in place. If we had, then as you say, the list would have continued to contend.

Think you have finally lost the plot old fella.

The 2017 success was a direct result of the system and people we put in place at the end of 2014.

The failings we had as a club post September 2017 do not eradicate the correct things we did between 2014-2017.

So according to kane cornes the carlton coaching position is a prime job ,in what reality is this knob living 🤣🤣🤣

By your logic the failings post September 2017 were also a result of the people we put in place at the end of 2014.

Because they were the same people

There's a lot of posters on this board that reckon Neil Craig was a successful AFL coach. Him and Kenny going toe to toe. Only question is whether Ken goes to 4 other clubs and brings them to their knees.

Your view of success in the AFL landscape is a little old fashioned.

Craig was a very good AFL coach. Couple of small things go different(Roo getting Parvo /roo getting suspended / cousins on crack) and we are perhaps talking about a completely different legacy.

This sport is a game of inches. You think we talk about Blight in the same light if Libba's goal stands with 10 minutes to go in that 97 prelim? I certainly don't.

I never said they were on the edge of a cliff like the Cats, but Boak, Gray & Dixon are key contributors that they need their output replacing.

If the cats dont win it next year and i dont think they will get close to it then they will be years away from their next
