Brownlow and Jim Stynes medals for Wines & Boak respectively. Let’s hope Dawson doesn’t apply any weight to these results in his decision making

why? There were a lot of ways to keep weight off in the 1980’s and Carrie was known to be highly indulgent
I actually meant it as a compliment, she was in great shape and looked like she actually did some weights.

In the 80s, it was hardly a thing for women. It was more aerobic exercise.

Boak spoke really well when he was interviewed for his award. Classy person, love to get him to the crows when he's finished at Port.

The week off has killed any interest I had in the GF. Such a boring build up.

When does the trade period get underway?
Yeh I don't think they will do this again.

Funny thing is, it might actually be the best thing for the game itself - gives the best players a chance to play at near to their best. BUT, the two week break has been utterly boring.

Wait and see the quality of the GF itself, might have an impact on the decision

I tend to think the break is a good idea, gives players a chance to recover and probably ensures a better contest

A bit boring to wait for but builds anticipation!

I'm not sure it's doing anything to build anticipation. Just the opposite - it's completely stalled the momentum of the finals, causing people to lose interest.

If they must have a week off, then it really needs to be before the finals, not in the middle of them. I understand that they did it this way to give themselves maximum flexibility due to the uncertainty of COVID lockdown. It's justifiable as a one-off, on that basis, but it's not something I would ever like to see repeated.

I wonder if in a year without COVID the break could be filled with more things to build the anticipation?

I'm a little bored waiting but also would hate to see a player not come up because of the 14 day concussion thing, especially when it seems the AFL can now step in and decide someone should have a break, if they are pretty much fine.

First thing I'd do is have events planned in the cities of both teams playing (wouldn't help this year obviously), this would help not give MCG tenants such an easy lead in. So looking back to 2017, have Richmond fly into Adelaide for a few days to promote the game, a grand final parade or event for supporters here, have them hold an open training session for their SA fans.

Maybe gives some room for an All Australian awards night in the first week to generate some discussion.

If there was a national reserves comp it would provide some opportunity for a Grand Final there maybe.

Legends game captained by a past player from each of the Grand Final teams.

My preference is probably no break but I'd rather judge it in a year where we can travel freely and organise things in advance.

I like it, I prefer it to the bye before the finals. I think in a normal year last weekend would of had more GF's played in the various leagues around the country.

It's definitely better than the pre-finals bye.

It's also good in that it allows anyone concussed in a prelim to still play in the Grand Final.
