I keep thinking how good north's midfield will be. I think Horne is going to be an absolutely dominant player both physically and with output. Then they've got Phillips (who I rate really highly from last year and brings sheer consistency /reliability), Powell who looks like a smooth accumulator.

Not to mention Simpkin and LDU.
Looking very nice. Simkin has looked like a gun in the small number of North Games I've watched.

IMO the issue is very often the free kicks they DON’T pay for us that they pay for the opposition. Stats aren’t going to reflect that.

I think they do, it is why there is the differential, they tend to pay the dead obvious frees both ways but the 50/50 frees in favour of the home team tends to get quite loud so they tend to pay some iffy ones to the home team and not so much to the opposition. It generally doesn't matter if there are a few missed but you can at times find some pretty significant differentials in free kicks with a general pattern of bias where there is a loud one-sided crowd. I think if umpires are aware of that bias they can prepare themselves for it, regardless where the game is.

I think in general the nature of MCG and Docklands and the access it allows for opposition fans diminishes that at those stadiums. Even if you play at a sell-out at the MCG, half the stadium is MCC and AFL membership and you just don't get the kind of crowd bias you get like at Kardinia Park where there is minimal opportunity for opposition fans to attend. Docklands is about 25% corporate premium membership and a fair chunk of it is open to the general public.

It is what it is, I am not complaining about it, I just thought it was amusing that someone thought they get a hard time of it in Melbourne. One thing I like about Docklands and MCG is the scope for opposition supporters, I think it makes for a better atmosphere.

General draft Q - why couldn’t Gold Coast’s required three National draft picks simply be #3 plus the two Academy boys (Uwland and what’s-his-face)?

That doesn’t make sense though; seems those Academy selections don’t count as one of the three National draft picks, which also doesn’t make sense to me.

The Suns also delisted Rory Thompson and Jez McLennan as part of their list changes, promising to re-list both – along with Greenwood – at the national and rookie drafts respectively.

I don't understand why this matters. I couldn't care less when and where they wear it.

Because its a falsehood. Firstly they signed a document entering the AFL under specific terms and conditions. Then they applied for one off celebrations to wear a jumper they've known for 30 years they cant wear. Now they are applying for once a year. If they get that, it will turn into petitioning for home games, then away games. Its a step ladder approach that they will never stop trying to climb until they are the port adelaide magpies in the afl. Inch by inch they will dismantle the power brand. 100% this has been discussed behind closed doors at Port. The AFL clearly know this. They are amateur but they aren't stupid. Port are trying to treat them like they are stupid. Best to just squash it now than allow them that extra rung on the ladder.

I know all that, it’s just dumb.

St Kilda are hoping to take at least two Academy picks in the draft and they certainly count as part of their three required selections.

Seems Gold Coast’s current draft concession of being able to directly add Academy players to their list without worrying about bids coming for them, includes a sting in the tail given they don’t count towards their required three ND picks.

I hadn't heard of this before. In any case, they still have list size limits even if it's larger than everyone else's.

I'm guessing they had a full senior list, didn't really want to want to lose any of them but still have to make the 3 ND picks so tried to go through the motions and really only bring in one new player with pick 3.

Guess that ties in with why they pretty much traded out of this draft and into next year's.

It's only a falsehood if you give a shit and are looking for reasons to say no. Who cares what foundation of lies their campaign is built upon. It's a guernsey, no more, no less, how many have we worn? The only people that should care are Pies people and yet there's masses of Crows people even more emotionally entangled. And even if it is a ladder approach, what's it to you or the Crows if they become the second Magpie brand in the AFL?

I hope they get permission to wear it at both showdowns, it's a good guernsey that's steeped in tradition. KG and Cornes would be awesome to listen to if that happened.

Surely a matter of time until this is mandated for all stadiums/events.View attachment 1282877

Firstly this is a business decision, not a mandate from above and has nothing to do with health of patrons. Capacity increases massively when the covid plan includes a vaccine requirement. Bloke didn't even hide it when on the news last night, stated it as plain fact. Compulsory jab = more customers approved by SA Health. It's effectively government mandated unvaccinated person lockouts without having to wear any damage at the ballot box. So there won't be a govt mandate whilst the covid plan process does the dirty work that the government fears doing itself.

Marshall is playing lots of people like a fiddle. It's hilarious.
