Discussion about Teague on Footy Classified

At his presser Teague said “I’m the best man for the job”

What he needs to say is “What we’re doing is working, and here’s the evidence of it” - but he can’t

He ain’t gonna last

"AFL player Jack Watts has been fined and avoided conviction after crashing into a car and fleeing the scene.
Watts, 30, did not appear in court on Tuesday because of travel restrictions from his new home in Melbourne.

Darren Russo, for Watts, entered guilty pleas to two counts of failing to provide information and one count of driving without due care on behalf of his client.

Watts was playing for Port Adelaide at the time of the crash and had previously played more than 100 games for Melbourne.

Mr Russo told the court his client had been stressing about the future of his football career and not paying attention when he crashed into the side of a parked car in Fulham on September 30 last year.

The court heard Watts had “panicked” after the crash and fled the scene."

“The law requires reporting within a certain period of time and (Watts) broke that law.

“But at least he obeyed the spirit of the law eventually.”

So there you go ladies and gentlemen.... If you're concerned about your job and your future you're free to crash into someone's car, run away and you'll just cop a $600 fine.

If he was stressing about his future why did he retire the next day? Doesn't add up.

Can't believe the media weren't all over this when it happened.

You only leave the scene if you have something to hide.

It's Port that's why the media weren't all over it.

Pyke has his faults but you wonder how much he was hindered by his useless support staff of Burton, Haas, Ricciuto, Fagan, Campo, Hart, Godden etc.

Pyke is not a modern day coach in terms of player interaction. Was extremely closed off from many players and staff and had the opposite of an open door policy.

This is actually a disgrace. If I did this tomorrow, do you think I will escape conviction and only get a pitiful fine? Hell a speeding ticket is more than that.
It's a pathetic excuse. What if he was on drugs? Drunk? Both? He didn't run away for no reason.

Or concerned about your cat...
Cats can cause all manner of grief

The England cricketer Graeme Swann told Nottingham police that he was on a mission to buy screwdrivers to rescue his pet cat from under the floorboards when they stopped his Porsche at 3am and charged him with drink driving.

"Mr Swann stated he had been out that evening and had come back to find his cat trapped under the floorboards in his house," PC Denniss said. "He had gone to Asda to fetch some screwdrivers to remove some floorboards. His speech was slightly slurred but he was compliant. He was slightly upset due to the fact of his cat and what had just happened."

There is absolutely no way a non-public figure would have gotten away as lightly as Watts

Absolutely he was hence why he ran.

Gonna be a pretty flat deck at AO this weekend, flat enough to see a Tealster here.

Finish top four, Ken might get another extension. After all there are a few coaching jobs opening up he can use as leverage.

I wonder if they paid for his lawyer out of the "chasing greatness" fund.

Not true. I remember Ben Cousins running from an RBT because he was stressed too. It's obviously a real thing because there's no way that Cousins would have been under the weather in any illegal way.

He did try and change that in his last year, but by that point the whole situation was far too gone for it to make a difference. Hopefully he's learnt from it. It's why I'd be hesitant if I was a team like Collingwood with a bunch of younger players, I'd want to have some strong support around him in that regard, but then you almost create a division among the coaching ranks that may not be healthy either.

Surely a speeding fine is totally different to fleeing the scene of an accident. And I'm sure the copper involved would have attested to the fact that Talia did at least have a cat in the car. No such evidence from SAPOL regarding Watts' excuse. Care to guess why?
