Actually not sure why people are disagreeing with eddie here.. he’s 100% correct..

Carlolton are chock full of talent.. probably have more talent in their squad than anyone. Just look at how many of their players are 1st round picks and then how many are top 5 and top 10 picks..

Problem is they are poorly developed by a clearly shitly run club.. and the players have become lazy, soft and entitled because of it.

it supporters are generally also lazy and entitled.. they want every good player available to trade in and they want to pay as little as possible for them.. you see it in their attitudes when discussing trades on here.

Lets hope they do get Lyon.. because if the rumours are true about Ross being a hot head that loves screaming abuse at his players then it will definitely be a massive step backward.. the cry baby little princess carlton players will probably throw their bums in the corner and refuse to play for Ross…

I can think of a few snowflake past Crows players who should have had a hard-arsed character like Lyon give them a serve, not necessarily to tell them to give up, but to put them straight about their hissy fits and their undermining of the club through the media.

I think you are confusing "position players were selected in" with "talent"

Once you are in an AFL system, you can be quickly found out if actually you don't have talent, but a recruiter (a bad recruiter, like SOS) thinks you have talent.

This is Carlton. They think they have all this talent - Marchbank, Kennedy, Dow, SPS, O'Brien, Plowman, Setterfield, Stocker, etc. who are all first round picks - but the reality is all these players just suck or are bog average. Some of them have sucked at more than one club.

On the other hand they have developed several other actually talented players just fine. Walsh, Weitering, McKay, Docherty, Cripps are also all first round picks and some of these guys can lay claim to being in the top handful of players in their position.

That's the problem. They run around beating their chest thinking all this talent is just sitting on their list waiting for the Messiah Coach to come in and deliver them a flag. Betts comes out and says Carlton have more talent than a team that actually made the grand final. It's deluded thinking.

They massively overrate what they have and are pointing the blame in the wrong places. Always the coach. Gotta sack him, it's the coach not delivering with this spectacular list. Bullshit. Their list is top heavy, their middle 10-20 players are bog average and would struggle to get games at other clubs, and their depth is atrocious. 10 years of list management failures have torched their side to the ground, but no, sack the coach after 2 years

Fyfe was very pro Lyon I believe, so if you had a problem with one you probably had a problem with both.

Fyfe to listen to is one of the most inspiring footballers I've heard. Great leader. Good human. Coach in the making.
Not sure how this connects with the Lyon thing but perhaps if you couldn't get on with Nat Fyfe, it's not Nat Fyfe's fault.

Carlton's top end talent are elite to A graders in Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, Mckay and Docherty (before his 2 ACL) hence why they are paid big contract (aside for McGovern, Williams and Saad who they overpaid) but their list falls away big time after that because they paid them sh*t for these mid tier players and no other clubs are poaching them because they are sh*t so Carlton are stuck with them and continually rotate them so their list goes nowhere.
