Can’t think of a bigger screw up and missed opportunity in recent AFL history.
Port finish top last year, second this year, lost two home preliminary finals and with it, the chance to play Victorian teams in a GF without those teams having a home ground advantage at the MCG and they f*cked it all.
Glorious.
Having said that, what real chance would port have had last night. I mean the dogs midfield is a far more powerful one than ports and even they got totally overpowered. That 119 point margin absolutely would have got a fair shake of being beaten

After last night the VFL need to tear up that contract, absolute injustice the GF isn’t shared around
The last couple years have shown the contract may not mean that much as they have added 2 years to it to compensate the games not at the MCG. If that's all it takes then I'm fine with the AFL doubling the years of the contract but keeping the number of games the same so it can rotate every second year

Out of both years I think 2020 was their best shot

If they managed to knock off Richmond in the Prelim I am almost certain that they would have beaten Geelong for the flag.

Without Ebert and Hartlett this year I reckon they regressed and despite finishing 2nd it was pretty obvious this year that they weren't the best side, but in 2020 they were the best side in the comp.
+1

Dont underestimate momentum ever, had Duursma not dropped a soda late in the 1st half, Port would have gone into HT with the lead and I genuinely believe that and their rabid feral crowd would have carried them over the line.

Im with you, they would have rolled the Cats at the GABBA on GF day.

It makes flashcrow gif of Duursma dropping the 2020 Premiership Cup so Powerful.

Mmm, I didn't feel that. Bit like a glorified minor round game to me, lacked atmosphere, minimal mad supporter interaction and the yellow Sherrin in a GF is a disgrace

I think it lacked atmosphere is because we had to wait 2 weeks for it.
It reminded me of when they had the GF rematch after the draw.

It didn't help we had to wait until the evening for it though.

Should have tried a twilight GF.

Yup, matching up against a Chris Scotts Geelong in a grand final is akin to being gift wrapped a premiership.

Port truly blew it that year.

Trigg at best was a transitional/interim CEO. A guy to keep the seat warm and the engine running for 12-18 months, he didn't have the business acumen or vision to ever be anything more than that.

The fact that the club kept him in the role for over a decade is an embarrassment and reflects poorly on the likes of Chapman.

he was a safe pair of hands type. The type you forgive their lack of vision, their inability to dream big, in favour of process and procedural efficiency.

problem was, turns out he’s a bit of a calamity, a very slippery, unstable pair of hands

He couldn’t even steer the ship straight

IMHO Darcy won't get a bid to maybe #5 or #6 ......very skinny
Watch North bid on 2 to try and screw over the Bulldogs

Bulldogs: nah, you can have him.

Fear does not exist at the Adelaide Football Club.

No Sensei.

Cobra Kai S4 release date 31 December.

Which means if you go deep sea diving in the ocean on Jan 1 from about 4pm SA time onwards you should find buried treasure. Ive used similar words with our illustrious Chief in the media forum and he didnt mind it.

Deaneus! and the rest who are interested.

Great move, your turn comes along every 8 years for the non Victorian capitals.

MCG
Adelaide
MCG
Sydney
MCG
Brisbane
MCG
Perth

This would be a big step towards finally becoming a real national competition, not just an expanded VFL.

Glorious.

While they had injuries during the year they also ran out in both Prelims with virtually a full squad to pick from. That doesn't happen very often
