From us keep an eye on Tom Highmore. Could come in to release Clark to play mid
Does coach love him?
Brett Ratten loves all his players.
That's why St Kilda is the best team ever and will win the 2021 premiership.

Is that why the Blues didn't win a premiership for him he only loved Juddy

What about Denver Grainger-Barras? I like the look of him

Reckon Clarko loves him yet?
Going to be a great SC scoring player, great get by the Hawks .....but he has to build his body still

I can see why Coaches will choose DGB, what with Sicily going down .....but he's too expensive for his likely output

Could make a great fwd in years to come if required

Hawks could play DGB as a 3rd tall or even a medium def this year. Will Day was very skinny last year and he did alright playing in defense before moving to the wing.

I think that's how DGB will be used initially as well .....Day's game wasn't dependent on body size, DGB i can see following a similar trajectory as Ridley, maybe 6 - 8 games at an average of 66

Last season Crows were desperate to get games into Mcasey ....still could only manage 10 games as a tall DEF in 3 game blocks

For the Crows Pedlar has to be strongly considered .....can't see him in the side early rounds though after injury interrupted 2020 season

The other player to add to watch list, is 2nd year player O'Connor ....looked good in PS games early 2020

Great thread BTW ......what rookies from the 2019 Draft intake, are likely to debut this season ?

Hayden Young (inj)
Liam Henry (FREO) fwd .....apparently in the clubs top runners this PS
Miles Bergman
Cooper Stephens (GEEL)
Sam De Koning (GEEL) .....replacing Taylor ?
Deven Robertson (BRIS)
Dylan Williams (PORT)
Will Gould (SYD)
Finn Maginness (HAW)
Jay Rantall (COLL)
Ronin O'Connor (ADEL) ......put him on your watch list ..191cm inside mid with pace
Trent Bianco (COLL)

Thoughts ?

Pies have got a bunch of rooks that will get opportunities.

Rantall and Bianco will definitely get an early chance. Fin Macrae and Reef McInnes may get an early run.
I can see one or even two of these four lining up in round 1.

Caleb Poulter is an accumulator, but may need time to bulk up. 191cm skinny mid but has flair and skill. Mid season chance.
Nathan Murphy and Mark Keane are defenders that will be blooded this year - Keane played 1 game last year and is $158k. Expect them to play in 2021.

A smoky for round 1 is Beau McCreery. a small pressure forward, is only 19 but played against men in the SANFL last year.
Kicked 2 goals and had 5 tackles in South Adelaide's semi-final win against Glenelg.
Collingwood are desperate for his type to rove the feet of Cox and Checkers. If he performs well pre-season, I can see him named round 1.

As for the others, I was waiting for Deven Robertson all year. Had him in round 1, but then he was dropped and never played again.
I think ol' mate pulpdriver and I carried him for the entire bloody season! Was named emergency a bunch so was close.
Imagine if I went through the same thing this year!

Surely Will Gould gets a solid run? Swans fans would know better.

Jones is a lock to play round one for Port

Disagree. Certainly a chance but far from a 'lock' with Jonas, Clurey, Aliir, McKenzie, DBJ, Houston, Hartlett and Burton to contend with. Will get games at some point, but might not be from Round 1.

Miles Bergman, Dylan Williams and Sam Hayes are others who I could definitely see playing some games this year. Maybe not Round 1, but good downgrade targets throughout the season.

Heres my list at the moment

Def:
McAsey (fwd) -
Should be best 22 with a good preseason, needs to add some mass in preseason.
DGB - Good JS, fantasy number are atrocious but dont consider intercepts. Might be okay
Jones - Crowded Port def, will pick if named
Murphy - Seen some talk on the pies board
Gould - Trimmed over the summer
Wehr - Mature age rebounding def, outstanding in SANFL and now at GWS
R.Thompson - Back from LTI, unsure if Ballard takes his spot or theres room for him
Laurie (fwd) - Seen some talk on Melb board

Mid
Phillips - Lock, closest we'll get to Rowell/Walsh but not at that level.
Powell - Doesnt look like there is much room for him but hopefully forces his way in at North.
McInnis - Pies have freed up a few spots, draft profiles say ready to go
Pedlar - Looks ready to go, had injuries though and not sure he plays R1
Sharp - GC gave up a lot for him, needs to put on KG and now Atkins competing for wing spot. Wait and see.
RCD - Ready to go but heard nothing on him

Fwd
Impey -
See if he plays fwd or def but regardless makes money
Dow - Watched him and think hes a panic merchant dud, although injuries have hindered him. See if he gets full preseason.
Campbell - Should play R1 for Swans, says hes inside/outside mid but more outside.
Hollands - Him and Rankine up forward, get the tissues out. Probably not ready yet due to ACL, scored well in nab league but not an accumulator.
Dev Robertson- Lock I think, lived with Neale and Mitch Robbo is cooked, should take his spot according to brissy board.
Perkins - Should play early but HF
F. Macrae - Some guy who watched Oakley says hes about on par with Phillips but Macrae was shafted fwd due to stacked midfield. Pies have spots open.
J. Rowe - Crows small forwards outside of McAdam are limited talent, think he plays R1 with Stengle not playing anytime soon. Won the SANFL colemen I think, if not 2nd.
W. Kelly - Pies board think hes a good chance to play
Bergman/Williams - Unsure but Port board thinks one is an outside chance to get a bench spot but tough competition

At this stage I'm loading up on fwd rookies as we should get plenty in the 180k range as insurance, would be shocked if we dont get Macrae+Rowe at least.

There's around 25 players with a starting price of $102k, any chance any of these blokes play in round 1?

Feel like we haven't had a good cheapie for a couple of years

Alex Davies for the gold coast. Was a top 20 talent but the suns were able to pick him up for free which is why he's min price. Tall midfielder, ready to go, clearance beast. Only problem is that he has to break into their stacked midfield.

I will be keeping an eye on Malachy Carruthers (Syd Def) I have heard a couple of rumours about him playing off a wing.

Don't think he'll do it, unless there's injuries.

But a good chance for later in the season, along with Hollands.
Also heard this from people too.
Good pickup for GC but dont think he's a rd1 starter.

That’s what we need. Cheap malakas.

My post was based on him not being a round 1 starter but being likely to get early games. Just use him as your loophole and take a Comben type at R3 who I think will get games.
Fair enough.
Would rather take him as a downgrade target especially at 100k and start another playing rookie on the bench.
Got suckered into too many donuts on the bench in 2021 by starting guys who 'may play'.
Won't happen again.

That’s true, if there’s mid rookies with good job security there at round 1 fair enough. But I’ve also been suckered into picking rookies just because they’re named round 1 knowing they’re job security is actually very poor and they disappear from sight clogging up your bench.

He's listed at 67kg 184 cm. When I was younger and came in at 65kg/180cm, my doctor legit said I had an eating disorder. You'd hope this bloke will play on a wing because he'll get ****ing snapped otherwise.
