Based on CD's press conference yesterday, he effectively admitted that the plan to do this involved Butters, Rozee and Duursma this year, and that the injuries to these players limited our ability to start that transition. It's actually worth listening to the whole interview rather than reading the snippets in print form, it's a fairly rational and reasonable appraisal of the game and the state of the list. Of course, if you are solely on the #sackken binary then fair enough, you won't be satisfied, but in a real world where that isn't going to happen (unfortunately), you can at least be confident in Davies' command of the football department.

Wasn't referring to any snippet just saying what I think we need to succeed. It was evident in the prelim. You've snapped at conclusions. Haven't read or listened to anything. In another post I've said that we need to evolve the midfield and Rozee and Butters need to be full time mids otherwise having Boak in our first rotation is not going to take us forward of a prelim. If CD has said as much then good but I have my suspicion that they'll deem Rozee doesn't have a big enough tank and we'll see him only part time.

The reality has been shown pretty clearly that our problem is not with the list but with the coaching and administration now. 9 years of evidence make this pretty clear. So that means we do need to tinker to make sure we have players in the right age bracket for when we get changes at the top. Dawson and Finlayson fit this perfectly.

I think some people just make up rumors this time of year. I know contracts can be broken but Mitch is contracted till the end of 2023. Not saying he won't eventually go home but I'm confident we will keep him till at least free agency time which is still a few years away.
