FWIW I'd take Dawson over Parker if given a choice, fantastic kick of the footy and can play the distributing role out of the back or on the wing, also 4 years younger than Parker, would be extremely happy with Parker though.
For Dawson I have a feeling it's either Sydney or SA, would be a great get though.

I reckon Swans would probably feel the same given the age difference and that they already have a nice group of young mids coming through so Parker probably more replaceable. Parker still playing great football though and letting your captain go is always going to be difficult.

For me, we should be getting a minimum of 2 first round picks for Neale. 1 of those must be their pick 8 or pick 6 they get for cerra from Carlton.

We have now 4 first round picks

Pick up Luke Parker as free agent, 3yrs @ $600.

I'm delisting Fullerton and Ballenden.
Chasing Max Lynch from Collingwood and Wiederman from Melbourne. Wiederman maybe costs us 1 first round pick or 1 pick split to trade.

With 3 first round draft picks we get 3 really good kids, or use 2 and trade a pick fwd to make sure of getting Ashcroft the next year. Either way it locks in a good future.

Summary.
Out-- Neale, Ballenden, Fullerton
In--- Parker, Wiederman, Lynch

It fills the Neal hole, it fills the Hippy hole (I've got Hippy on the Long term injury list all season next yr), upgrades ruck/fwd depth.

I'm trading/delisting Ely Smith
Delisting Brock Smith and hoping Birchall retires to make way for 2 or 3 top draft picks.
Weiderman.......he will be at Port Melbourne as the replacement for Lisle. I dont think anyone will be interested in him.

Lol especially this week. Seven days ago we were thinking tick off this weekend, best port the next and premiership is delivered. Talk about an unravelling.
I’m still hurting. Less so, but it’s still painful.

It will burn even more if the Dogs win this weekend and heaven forbid they win the flag..... oh what could have been.
It’s already asterisked in my mind. Cheating campaigners.

Mitchell is too similar to Neale we need pace that’s where someone likes Parker comes
Parker doesn't really add significant pace, but he would definitely be a worthwhile addition to our midfield and forward options.

How about Stephen Coniglio?

The thought has crossed my mind but it is a risk and realistically, what would we need to give up for him and how much salary would we need to take on?
I actually think we can use his unfortunate situation at gws to our advantage. Let's look at the facts. Stephen is a fantastic player who is absolutely shot on confidence. Fagan is the perfect coach to not only restore his confidence, but bring him to the level that he was going to get too before things went backwards at GWS. Financially speaking, GWS will have a tight cap space and would want to move a few players on as their young guns begin to ask for bigger contracts. And whatever picks are asked off the giants shouldn't be too much. Honestly, besides Parker (who looks to be off the market) he is the best player out there that looks at least gettable. Surely it's worth a shot?

I have seen a suggestion that he could be involved in a 3 way deal involving us and Freo and didn't think it was the worst idea I've ever heard.
Coniglio's potential is far greater than Neale's. He just needs the right environment to get there and I think our club is the perfect place to make that happen. Seriously, if we traded Neale on and brought in Coniglio and somehow had additional draft picks left over, I would consider that a win for us.

Potential? Neale and Coniglio will both be 28 come Round 1 next season. If Coniglio's potential is greater than Neale's why hasn't he reached it? And surely he is unlikely to do so now? I agree a fresh start under Fagan could probably get him back to some better form, he's had injury issues at GWS and his confidence is shot, he hasn't handled the pressure of the captaincy well at all. I did think about the prospect of adding Coniglio but I think it's a no from me, would rather take the draft picks and try reinvigorate the midfield/overall list. In saying that if we did end up with Coniglio I'd get on board the idea pretty quickly and be excited about what he could offer us.

Coniglio looks to have aged 15 years in the space of 2 seasons and is battling to keep his spot in a lesser team, albeit coming back from injury and in an arguably better midfield.
The way he runs at the moment, there’s a total stiffness to him, looks like he’s been re-made out of wood.

Neale being 28 you could conservatively say, even accounting for regression, that he could at his age still achieve:
Another AA jacket, or 2. Making squads.
Strong possibility of another club BnF, possibly multiple. Top 3 finishes.
Outside to reasonable chance for another Brownlow if he’s healthy.
Body may slow down but his IQ and sharp hands to remain.

So my ideal trade period, i actually see more positives then negatives trading Neale.
Ideal trade period-
Neale out for 6 & 8, we lose 14
Parker FA or Trade pick 8 for Mitchell & Gunston.
Delist- A. Smith, Birchall, Ballenden, B. Smith, Joyce (Re Draft)
First round draft hand 6,8,18 or 6 & 18.

A bit of a time out here. Fondly remembering a few years back when Beams requested a trade to the Lions.

Anyone else remember how big fat head Ed decided to make up his own trade deadline clock for an offer to come through from the Lions.

Then that deadline expired, and Ed proclaimed that no trade was going to be done.

Fun times.
