With one night of camp still to come, the Hawks completed a gruelling running set after training, returning to Federation University for hill sprints next to the cabins they are sleeping in.

Endurance machine Changkuoth Jiath led the charge alongside Maginness, with Ned Longand Weddle not far behind, ahead of Moore and ruck duo Max Lynch and Max Ramsden.

Ned Long is looking noticeably trimmer. Has lost a lot of puppy fat. He's obviously improved his speed and agility, too!

I actually love this. That hard-edged competitiveness isn't something you learn. It's something deep within you and it means you don't want to lose.

I'll be doing cartwheels if Sammy Butler becomes our version of Tom Papley.

Just a young player stepping up, unafraid to take on the head of the pride. Sicily didn't expect the competitiveness; he was probably surprised someone as young as Butler would tackle him like that.

A lesson to James IMO. The young brigade shouldn't be afraid to challenge the senior players. James, if he's mature, should be prepared in the future and encourage that.

In that Sicily butler everyone coming in is laughing. Butler was wrong to sling Sicily the way he did so a bit of a shove back is warranted.

This was match simulation and it shows the players are taking it seriously and representing their bibs well. That incident probably happens 2-3 times minimum in every AFL game. Train hard, play hard.

You'd just imagine this happened almost every match sim in the days of hodge/ lewis/ roughead/ mitchell.

Wasn't there an article a few months back where a young hawk at the time had to ask someone if lewis and rough had any respect for each other given how heated it was on the track.

After seeing that incident all I can say is expect a lot of senior games from Sam Butler this year.

That is the type of aggression and effort which is going to propel us towards playing finals football again. And to think when Sicily had a crack at him the 2nd year 9 game player went straight back at him. I’m now officially all aboard the Sam Butler Train. Very Impressive

All I know is, I'd prefer our young brigade show some fight and punch on with one another at training than promote NFT's on social media. There is a bright future within one of those scenarios but the other has fallen off a cliff already.
