Apparently 5,000 freo members have Brought tickets. Will be one of the most one sided crowds they afl will ever see. 85,000 Collingwood fans to 5,000 freo lol
Richmond v GWS prelim was way more one sided than this will be almost 90,000 to 1300 gws members from memory. There will be more than 5000 freo in the ground with public sales but it will be very one sided. Reckon the purple haze will make some noise though they certainly get up and about.

Big 4 Vic teams for the win with the massive crowds against interstate teams.

It would be interesting to imagine how big of a crowd non Victorian teams could draw to finals against interstate teams if they had a stadium with 100,000.

Reckon Crows & Eagles could do 90-100k at home in a final with relative ease if they had the capacity available. Freo could go close as well judging by the demand last weekend and if they played a club with big WA support like Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon etc.

Brisbane will get the odd 50k crowd to the new Gabba. It sold out the last 3 home games at 36k cap and sells out most big games & finals. Sydney have shown the ability to get 60-70k at ANZ. Port seems about right at 50k.

How many freo fans do you think will be at the game? If 5,000 freo members brought tickets not sure how many non members would buy tickets. They would have no more that say 7,000 Max at the game. So say out of the 87,000 tickets drought to the game so far 80,000 Collingwood to 7,000 freo. With additional mcc walk up of say approximately 5-7,000 mcc members would would look at possibly being 85,000 Collingwood fans at the game which for a semi final is insane

You'd have about 10 percent neutrals who would be going for Freo.

I'm loving the return of massive crowds to finals in Melbourne in recent years.

Even excluding Grand Finals - since 2016 the MCG averages over 83k for finals.

Between the completion of the renovations in 2006 and 2015 the average was just 70k.

After 1990 up to 2015 there were 105 finals (excl GFs) at the MCG and only 5 of them hit 90k. Since then there's a better than 50% hit rate with 9 out of 17 getting there, with the chance of another this weekend.

That it would even be a possibility for a Fremantle Semi Final to get 90k would have been dismissed as ridiculous a short time ago. Hell, 3 days ago I would have said it was crazy.

Will be nowhere near as one sided as the crowd at the Richmond-GWS prelim in 2017. Or any other major final at the G involving Team Orange.

Thinking the Dees V Lions crowd will be a bit underwhelming. I dont think they have even opened level 4 ponsford. Ticket sales seem to have slowed to a crawl.
Yeah it's dissappointing considering I thought our turnout against the Swans was great.

Most Dees supporters I know are still going but we're very flat at the moment. It doesn't help with how shit we play at the G (won 2 of the last 7), I personally have had nothing but bad times there the last few months and I'm wondering why I'm even going lol

It'll probably get 50-60k and that's not completely awful, just not great. It still shows how impressive AFL crowds are where you can 50k+ between 2 smaller clubs and be dissapointed with it.

If it hits 60k which is what I thought earlier in the week it would be a very healthy crowd. Semi finals generally tend to be a little flat for one set of supporters and I think Lions supporters would also be flat at the prospect of facing the Dees again after their last 2 showings.

I think they will get about 65,000 which won’t be too bad!! The afl could also reduce the prices by half for the game so it could entice more neutrals to the game. Plus the mcc members should be 80% full due to the dees having the most mcc members

Yeah definitely need to take into account the public sales will always be lower for Dees games as the MCC will have 15k dees in there + neutrals. As an MCC member the only games I've been to that Carlton have been heavily outnumbered in the MCC has been against the Dees.

Even for regular Home and Away games , the MCC feels out pretty damn good for Dees games. Most people don't realise because the camera is always on the side of the ground too!

Yes but that’s members allocation.
I’m a vic docker member and I missed out on club member allocated tickets so had to buy a GA there were others I know of in the same boat.

That's a good point. I just had a quick look at the last 2 semi finals at the MCG against interstate oppoisiton. Geelong got 51k against West coast and Collingwood got 72k against GWS. Obviously there's different factors, but we don't have the pulling power of Collingwood but to get somewhere in the middle of that would be pretty good.

I think someone had a better sheet of data in here of semi finals so I'll have to find that

Yeah I think freo will get probably around 7-8,000 at to Saturday nights game. Collingwood will have 80,000 then there will be a few thousand neutrals. Crowd will be anywhere between 90-95,000

I doubt we will get more than 55,000 tbh. Even that might be overly optimistic given that the top decks in public reserve have hardly been touched

MCC offering provisional members the opportunity to buy a ticket for themselves and a guest at both games this week.
That's great news for provisional members. Its not listed anywhere on their website though, still says full & restricted only for finals tickets. Was this communicated directly to provisional members? I would be surprised if provisionals would be allowed to go with a guest on Friday night being a Dees game but Saturday it absolutely makes sense, as Collingwood and Freo combined wont have huge MCC support. Maybe they didn't get as many reserved seats & visitor sales as forecasted so they are opening up to provisional. Great move and would almost ensure the MCC reserve is full.

I have also seen a promo for limited 2 for 1 tickets to Friday night in the public area that had been sent to local footy clubs. So I am guessing they have made the call to fill the place as much as possible.

Showers forecast for both Friday and Saturday. Hopefully there won't be any downpours as there's nothing worse than seeing the front rows of the G empty with the crowd fleeing to the standing area.

There'll be nowhere to flee to on Saturday. The standing room is all sold as well.

Communicated directly.

I received an email today. Though I already have tickets through my club membership.

Do we underestimate the attendance of neutrals in Finals at the G?

I went to both last week and going to both this week 🤷🏼‍♂️ maybe it’s just me, but I think In a 90K crowd 10-15K could be neutrals. Yes I think this is the case for the Richmond Finals too - who wouldn’t of wanted a ticket to the Richmond and GWS 2017 prelim.

I reckon there could be 10K neutrals at the Pies and Freo game and most would be purchasing a Freo scarf

Crows, West coast fill it no problems.
