Soft spot for this guy. Anybody who can get drafted out of a country league has done something remarkable in my opinion. This one hits closer to home since I've played in the same league in the past.

Looks as though he's uploaded this himself as well which shows how much he wants it. Rumours are that he's attracting interest as high as the second round.

I really think flying Phillipou and his Dad in has more to do with making sure the personality is going to be a fit. Making sure we feel comfortable that the work ethic matches the confidence is vital.

The bonus is, it keeps the Bombers on their toes and makes the Tsatas dream feel like a possibility.
You can have Tsatas.

Thanks. Has there been a draft before where the guy who will probably go pick 1 is not widely viewed as a top 4 player in the draft?

I really can't see us overlooking Tsatas if he's there.

Do we really think Saints will cough up a F1 to move up 6 spots in this draft? Absolute madness and desperation from Ross if true.
Ross the Boss to go all Crazy Voss.

Can someone explain this essendon and Dodoro situation with Phillipou/Tsatas?

From what I can gather:

Dodo wants Phillipou more than Tsatas, but not by much. May still have Tsatas ahead, but thinks he can get some value.
Dodo thinks he can trade down in the draft to get some assets while still taking his man
Currently, St Kilda look like the best option for him at pick 9.

Hawthorn has pick 7.
Hawthorn may want Phillipou
If Dodo trades down past our pick and we pick Phillipou, they are a bit screwed.

Essendon now has a few options:
Take Tsatas/Humphrey at pick 5. Hawks get Humphrey/Tsatas or Phillipou.
Take Phillipou at 5. Hawks get Tsatas or Humphrey.
Trade pick 5 down past pick 7. Team who trades up likely takes Tsatas. Risk Hawthorn taking Phillipou and not getting a player you rate highly.
Trade pick 5 for pick 7. Essendon doesn't get a monster deal (Maybe WB F2) but guarantees they get Phillipou and a bit of value. Hawthorn get Tsatas (we only do this if we really want Tsatas or Humphrey).

If Essendon are playing games with us then the only thing that makes sense is them trying to make us think they're going to take the player we're most interested in. They'd be hoping we want whoever that is enough to trade up with a pick swap with Essendon and that their first pick still ends up slipping through.

For example, we might want Tsatas more than anyone we expect to be available and Essendon might rate Phillipou as best available. So if Essendon make out like they're going to select Tsatas they'd be hoping we'd trade them something sweet to swap our firsts. That way they get a bonus plus still get Phillipou if Suns don't take him.

Ultimately Essendon will pick whoever they want and we just have to hope that whoever is left is someone we (the club) rated higher than that spot in the draft.

Dodo thinks he’s playing Chess while everyone else is playing Checkers… hopefully on draft night it turns out he was actually playing headache

With all this chat about Phillipou, Tsatas & Clark, you'd think MacKenzie and Ginbey are outside chances.

Aswell as Humphrey most likely moving to Goldy

If both there are 24 would strongly consider live trading pies pick 25 and get them both. Jones won’t get past eagles pick 26
If we get a haul of Jones, Hotton and Tsatas I would be mighty pleased. An injection of pace and forward class which we desperately need. If Keeler somehow makes it to our third rounder I would be even happier

Ginbey's name has popped up on here the least, so it's probably him.

When does Twomey release his phantom? He's usually close to the mark in the first round, and at least generally reports which combination of players most clubs are interested in.

Personally I’d be happy with any of Tsatas, Phillipou, Humphrey or McKenzie (or any of the slated top 4 if they happen to slide)If we take Clarke I’d understand why but would be less enthused by the decision. I want us to be bold. Also Phillipou being the youngest player in the pool is overstated. He is only 2 months younger than Tsatas.

It seems there’s a bit more excitement this year on who we’ll get compared to last year. Is this correct? More talent this year?
Last year from memory we were pretty much a shoe in for Ward at this stage, either that or there was speculation we’d trade up for Callaghan. Much more open this year
