Would not surprise me one bit if he did.

Windhager is nothing like Steele and Crouch. His explosiveness brings a point of difference to the midfield and next to Owens and Mackenzie we'd have a pretty good mix of young mids.
Not meaning Windhager is the same as them but shares a combination of traits with Steele, Jones and Gresham. Defensive ability, explosiveness, but not really helping with marking, variations of kicking and outside run you need. Personally think you’d be hanging for Tsatas to round out your mix.

We used our first pick on an outside mid with pace and flair last year in Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

Whilst they aren't the same player, he fills a much needed hole along with Windhager. Not sure we are quite as desperate for Tsatas as you seem to think.

Happy to agree to disagree and move on though. I think St Kilda says no to that deal.

It happens every year.

"Player X could slide!!!"
Said player goes in the expected range anyway. Last year it was Ward. Year before it was Phillips. 2019 was Hayden Young.

Something to do with the lack of actual content and them needing stories
Players do slide though - Brodie Grundy for example, Dev Robinson, Chad Warner, Jack Darling.
Sometimes it's BFrating players higher than clubland, other times it's a 'personality' issue (e.g. Grundy, Darling, potentially Phillipou this year is Rendell is to be believed)

Chad Warner at pick 30+ was a steal ... absolute bargain for a player of his calibre. He also comes from WA but they've managed to prevent him from flying at the end of two or three years.

Interesting article here: Chad Warner

As fans, we don't see those hidden draft interviews or really know what every player is like. For example, Billy Bloggs might be an elite talent but a terrible bloke that no AFL club would recruit any higher than pick 50+, if that. Grundy's personality over his years at Collingwood was exemplary so sometimes those minor issues can be easily corrected in the right environment.

The Saints have a few areas of need, but I was picking and both Humphrey and Tsatas I’d be opting for Humphrey.

Plays closer to AFL intensity and at worst should be a quality small forward. If he transitions into a mid over time that is a bonus.

This is the kind of draft crop you’d be better off taking the best available if you’ve got multiple areas you need to cover.

Well Humphrey isn't making it to 10 and I don't think we are that desperate for a small forward that we would give up too much to move up in the draft.

Would be wary of drafting Humphrey ,hearing rumours that he gets in all manner of strife.
That tends to happen when you walk around with no pants on all the time.

I think there is close to zero chance Tsatas makes it to 10. For mine Mackensie is a talent but doesn't seem that impressive next to Steele and Crouch who still have many good years ahead of them. Add in Windhager who looked great late and you kinda need a point difference to not repeat the samish list build you've recently had. I've got Phillipou making it but they others well gone.

Personally wouldn't do it as Saints as I think you'll struggle next year if injuries hit a few keys. But in for the long haul rebuild doesn't really seem like Lyon's brand.

There are always sliders out of the top 10..we saw this with hobbs and johnson last year. Tsatas could well be that guy last year.

As for mackenzie id be very happy with him as a top 10 pick. Will be a good player.

Sliders are generally one of two things; either haven't demonstrated consistently enough at junior level or don't project to be a high level talent. I could understand the caution re: Hobbs and Johnson given their lack of pace or versatility, and size in Hobbs case. Tsatas is one of the best performed over the last two years and has the attributes to develop into a superstar at the next level. If we weren't absolutely horrible at drafting competitive beasts and had real culture problems around attacking the contest I would be absolutely ecstatic to get Tsatas. If he makes it past GC/Hawthorn (two sides who already have established inside mids and defensive traits, he suits them perfectly) the AFL industry has lost it's mind or has no confidence in it's ability to develop the defensive side of the game.

Didn't Hawthorn just trade their best two inside mids? lol

I doubt we'll touch Tsatas due to flight risk.

No. Newcombe is clearly their best inside mid. Moore is also already better than those two. Plus Worpel is competent enough and without Mitchell/Omera should get good game time and they've just brought in Cooper Stephens.

I wonder where StKilda rate their academy player McKenzie.
Would they be prepared to move up to guarantee his selection?
Maybe not with Essendon, but I feel they will want to move up.
He would suit Gold Coast. He's lived in France, so Queensland shouldn't be a problem.

I really doubt that you finish below any of us, Hawthorne, North, GWS, Adelaide or West Coast. I have you in the hunt for finals.
Say what?

AFL Media draft expert Cal Twomey has Hobbs at pick No.5 in the September edition of his Phantom Form Guide.

But who is delusional?

Say what!

He was widely regarded as a top 5 prospect by many draft watchers.
Well that shows me up.

And the market dictates that Saints are delusional

Bulldogs very interested in Brayden George (from AFL article).
How's that for an attempted rumour?

Interestingly, the Bulldogs had 9 people in their meeting with him (pipped by Adelaide who had 10!)

West Coast have apparently interviewed him 3 times and are very interested too. West Coast have pick 20 and Bulldogs have pick 21.

George in that Dogs F50 would be an excitement machine. Love the fit.
