I think Melbourne are a watch at 5, which becomes 6.

Pick 1 has a lot of pressure on it but I honestly think Jagga is the safest choice, guaranteed high floor, even if he might not have the upside of others, he's extremely low risk and was already playing really well in VFL games, and was obviously outstandingly consistent at TAC level.

Me too. It's risk versus reward really and if you're the Tiges who've been central to the 2 best draftees of the last 20 years - missing one and getting one, maybe the explosive game breaker is the safe bet. You don't want to miss out on a Buddy or a Dusty. However I think that landed last year. So I'd take Smith.

I, like everyone else, have no idea on which players are rated where on our board, but let's just say for arguments sake that we have Lindsay as our next best prospect after the top mids are gone but are concerned about the Saints taking him at 8 or the Dees taking him at 9.

Do we then offer a deal to the Saints for pick 8? It's obvious that the Saints would want 2 x 1st round picks this year so futures aren't in the equation, would the Saints accept 20 & 23? I think the Tigers would hold 10 & 11 because adding 20 or 23 to those would be too high a price to pay.

What I found interesting in the phantom draft was that Cal has Tauru going at the Saints’ second pick (10, not 8). Maybe has inside word that, although still a bolter, Tauru won’t be taken quite as high as we’ve been led to believe (e.g. North’s pick 2, Dees’ pick 5).
