I wonder why North would trade pick 1 to the team that wants Cadman. Surely Cadman would walk into North's forward line.
Saw it from one of the "experts" say that North are open to a trade. I agree with you, no idea why they would

Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, Ben King, Max King (if they get him a kicking coach), Naughton, Sam Darcy? Just as many examples where it pays off? If you don’t take the chance you can rarely trade a great one across unless you are Geelong or Richmond…..
It kind of seems like key forwards are primarily found early but not so for key backs.
It's why I'm not super keen on Busslinger.
I think less athletic defenders can do well at junior level but not AFL and more athletic juniors who haven't developed as defenders can learn defensive craft at AFL level.

Not sure where we are getting the picks but.. Phillipou, Weddle, Hayes, Keeler, Barnett and Cowan please.

Talls sorted for the next 10 years

But seriously…
I think Barnett could turn into a KPD he’s got loads of talent, great contested mark and moves so well for a 202cm ruck.

Keeler has tonnes of potential and plays that damaging KPF / Ruck role, would compliment Darcy nicely long term.

Weddle and Hayes have a good mix of shutdown and intercept ability down back.

Cowan I’m loving the thought of on the wing, that booming kick, great mark/size and speed.

And Phillipou is that prototype big mid that can play forward and impact.

Not asking much? Surely.

I use the NAB league app on my phone, it has all the numbers on there while I watch on another screen.

Ginbey's foot skills isn't one of his strengths, you'll notice he often bombs the ball out of stoppages if there's no options for a handball. He's pretty reliable by foot in defence though when there's less pressure.
Sounds like Matty Boyd

Draft combine is on. No athletic testing so far, just the chance to find the worst names and aesthetic choices.

I was talking about reaching for talls, not taking talls early that are rated around where they are taken. Those talls you mentioned were all rated around where they were taken. Hayes for instance is rated around the 15 - 30 range. Taking him at 11 would be reaching.

You'd have to presume they weren't going to take him anyway. Although he does seem a good fit, it's not as if he's a clear #2 pick, most boards seem to rate him 4-6. Maybe Roos just rate a Wardlaw, Sheezel or Tsatsas higher

I think Hayes is a bit underrated personally
But he is a wiry bloke, think he’s a much better defender than Busslinger to

Hayes somewhat reminds me of Harris Andrews

Article about George on AFL website.
Sounds like he’ll still go first round.
Seeing himself as a MID / FWD - One of the more dynamic players in the draft.

If you have multiple picks in the first round he is someone I wouldn’t mind taking a punt on, seems to be very dedicated.

A 5 pick reach isn’t a problem IF you can’t move back 5 spots, what else can you do?

I’m saying that, I am hoping for late first round picks (or early second round picks) and drafting multiple tall defenders after taking a speedy outside player at 11.

I have third tall vibes about Busslinger, so I am not sure he is worth taking at pick 11. He may just get better or he may plateau. Not convinced he becomes a KPD.

Hayes, Barnett, Weddle are all KPD. I also see a couple of the faster athletic swingmen as being future good KPD at AFL level.

I think you take the best available option early on whatever the situation might be.

I agree, I'm hoping for late first rounders though. Even if we get pick 21 from Brisbane, I'm in favour of trading 11 for a late firsts or even a early second. I do think we need a good small pressure forward just as badly as the ball bounces out of our forward line far too easily which makes the whole ground harder to defend. If we ended up with a Weddle/Hayes, Konstanty/Clarke and a Cowan/George this would go a long way in addressing some of our needs.

I don't think it's reasonable to take a player who won't have a spot in our side for a few years because he's rated a bit higher, when we could be takig a likely long-term piece we really need.

I used to think this, but I've changed my thinking over the years. Listening to Dalrymple, he's all for taking the best available and increasing your percentages of players making it. If the player is rated lower, he's less of a chance of making it particularly if you are reaching for players. This means you are reducing your chances of success by taking players on a needs basis.

If there's players rated very similarly like on the same tier (like what some draft watchers do) and one suits your side better then that is a bit different and clubs will do something similar but are probably a lot more nitpicky than draft watchers.

If you look up PMBangers rankings, he has Hayes just inside the Tier 3 category. While the players ranked from 6 - 12 are in the tier 2 category.

Anyone remember when the AFL website used to keep up with combine results as they happened? These days you might get a pissy late in the evening article about who ran the fastest or jumped the highest. Fan access to the combine gets worse and worse each year. Unlike the NFL where everything filters through as it happens.

That being said. Is the testing being broadcast anywhere or results posted anywhere at all?

First two days are interviews and vocational testing and stuff. Athletic tests start tomorrow. Headshots are out though if you want to find the worst haircuts.
