Norf supporters are of a view that JHF sooked it up most of the year & never wanted to be there.
North dealt with what we deal with every player we draft. I think they believed he would stay but as soon as things went sour Port were in his ear telling him how much of a rabble North are. In saying that North didn't help themselves either!

It was interesting to hear Dalrymple speak yesterday about how draftees are often coached re: what to say in interviews with recruiters & speak in cliches.
The art of the recruiter is therefore to get past that veneer and find out about the “real” individual.

Norf failed on that count.

But as caesar88 noted - they were in a bit of a no win position.

So in this one trade period all these players moved clubs

A 24 year old former #2 (Taranto)
A 24 year old former #8 (Logue)
A 20 year old former #12 (Bruhn)
A 21 year old former #3 (Jackson)
A 24 year old former #5 (Setterfield)
A 22 year old former #3 (Rankine)
A 19 year old former #1 (Horne-Francis)
A 24 year olf former #10 (Bowes)

Never try and hype me up about the value of draft picks ever again

And Luke Jackson met with Fremantle and West Coast officials in the middle of the season while contracted for another club. I know he would not be the only one but this is rampant tampering.

Rants over, logging out again

I have no problem with meetings occuring mid-season.

I can talk to potential employers whenever I want.

No to be honest , that's only for the big stadiums

I'm interested in ground maintenance (I think it's fascinating).

How easy is it to maintain a surface? There's a stadium here in SG, where they just cannot keep the grass alive. (I suspect largely because the stadium orientation doesn't let the grass get any sun).

I can't believe that anyone would even try to, when so many of our best players have come from outside the first round.

I’m not sure what the point of GWS stockpiling draft picks is.

1. Draft top 10 players
2. Pay them stupid overs on long term deals to keep them beyond 2 years
3. Realise they’re not that good & try to offload them
4. Lose the rest to Carlton
5. Rinse, repeat.
Amazing

I guess when you put it like that I can't disagree.
American sports have (barely effective) rules for this sort of tampering so the AFL being so casual about this is weird.

Then again I really shouldnt be looking towards America when it comes to worker's rights.

The fact that Bowes goes to Geelong with Pick 7, for a future 3rd round pick and it gets signed off is nothing short of a complete indictment on the league. What a ****ing joke.

and of course Geelong have the 1.6 million across 2 years space to cover the contract....

Yet we got trade restrictions for following the rules. Said it before, if I didn't love our club so much, I'd walk away from the sport.
