Well the old Match review screwed up again. Oliver has his forearm in Berry's throat and Berry gets a week for trying to get him off. Oliver was just annoyed because Berry owned him after half time. Surely they get the lawyers involved now?

Good luck overturning it.

Place hands on his eyes and did gouge. No reason hands to be near there at all

He can't breathe. Its not a natural reaction to grab at the opposition so they can release their pressure on the neck. Its not like he knew it was the eye and targeted it. He has to do something inorder to release pressure so he can breathe.

Unless he has an artery and blocking off blood flow, you have a good 20-30 seconds minimum and that is only it is properly on.

Regardless. He went for his face with intent.

Do I agree with what Oliver did, nope. But face has always been sacrosanct

He wouldn't know if he had 30 seconds or 30mins. It's a natural reaction to grab at the face/torso/leg etc if someone is suffocating you. You do whatever it takes to release that pressure to breathe. He wouldn't have any idea when Oliver would stop applying pressure.

You aren't serious are you? You obviously haven't had a forearm to the throat before? You reach for absolutely anything when your blood supply is switched off

I actually am, and I have.

In fact, I have been subjected to both strangualtion of both airway and artery for training on multiple occassions.

Arterial suffocation takes about four seconds to effect you. Airway takes about 20-30 seconds.

If Oliver actually had an effective choke on, I would be fairly shocked.

Did you take into account 120 minutes of AFL football, and being a novice to any form of chokes.
If you know that feeling then you know most people push away or grab at anything.
You don't have to have a choke on to react the way he did.

By the look of it he wouldn't even have known where Oliver's face was at the time.. his neck was pinned and was looking along the ground.
Would be worth contending by the Lions..

Usually, and I mean about 90% plus some, novices go for the offending limb that is choking them to get the pressure off.

Where Oliver's arm is would not choke him. The weight would be on his cheek and chest mainly which is bloody uncomfortable to be fair.

However, his hand went up and raked in when contacted his face. The amount of damage to Oliver's eye would need a decent amount of force to get it bloodshot like that

What kind of training? :eyes:

Let's agree to disagree. I think he gets off on a review. Once they take into account Oliver has instigated the action, then all should be right with the world.

I'm so glad we have all the Finals on FTA where there's absolutely no punting ads.. weren't people whinging about Fox getting more coverage because of gambling ads?
