I propose we play 0 games while Hinkley and Koch are in charge.

This except in place of all home games the club puts on fortnightly screenings of Caligula on the big screens at Adelaide Oval until Hinkley gets sacked.

Shorter games are the key. The games are stupidly long and getting longer. Should be no longer than 2 hours from start to finish including breaks. AFLW is great like this. Easily consumable. Will reduce injury/fatigue. Will result in closer games. It's a no brainer but the "traditionalists" always win out unfortunately.
Shorter games works with more games across a shorter time. We saw that during COVID affected games, where they had more than 1 game a week for clubs. With 18 teams (no need for more if you want other states, Vic sides to go) you could easily do 34 games. 16 minute (plus time on quarters) is 20% less, so players aren't going to be destroyed. Give sides larger lists and cap players at 30 games during the Home&Away season, no more than a dozen in a row and they'll get enough rest anyway.

Combine with shorter half time breaks (10 minutes) and you could schedule 4 or 5 home games at AO with a 7pm start Monday-Thursday and they wouldn't finish so late, as to keep families away as games those time (outside holidays) do now. I won't be getting a membership until Hinkley is gone, but if / when I do, I'd take 17 home games with 16 minute (plus time on quarters), then 11 of 20 minutes, even if 4 or 5 of those were Monday - Thursday.

He might play well, but he's clearly not that invested.

Even charlie and fantasia were out training at alberton the moment we picked them up.

Has junior even done any actual media since the trade?
So did Charlie move to Adelaide straight after the trade did he? And he immediately started training on his own while the rest of the team were traipsing away on their holidays.

What a man!

You talking about "Wild Card Round" where it was gonna be 7th vs 10th, and 8th vs 9th?
Grinds my gears if they do that
Nothing wild about it!

If it was 7 v best percentage in the bottom ten and 8 v 2nd best than it makes more sense

I don't know what it is about Australian society, but why in the world do we get whingy about quarters being too long when they're only a couple mins longer than they've ever been anyway.

NBA plays 80 games, MLB plays 160 games. And here we are with people whinging about a couple mins per week in a 20 game season. Even people are talking about cricket saturation in the media at the moment, what a load of crap. We're nowhere near saturation or over doing it. For cricket the problem is the cost, the coverage and the options in a small market that impact interest in that sport, nothing to do with saturation.

The only problem with our game is the inequitable draws, the constantly changing rules and the congestion on field. Outside of that the game is still great.

They could easily fix the inequitable draws with a 25 game season conference system, but don't have the balls. Even divisions could add something. They earn enough money they should carve up games and timeslots fairly rather than the crap they do to disadvantage lower teams.

And the rules, **** me. The stand rule is just a disgrace, the 50m for protected area is just so freakin minor. 6-6-6 is such a random kids sport rule. Throws never get pinged, pushes in the back are all good, holding and scragging by defenders gets ignored much. The games rules are just all over the place all the time and just such a mess.

The competition as it stands has many flaws & desperately requires major reform for it’s own survival & integrity.

Key Changes

  • National Talent pool is too thin for continual expansion leading to too many lopsided contests - fans lose interest.
  • AFL comp should be capped at 16 teams, including a team from Tasmania & NT.
- 6 Vic based clubs, 2 x NSW, 2 x QLD, 2 x SA, 2 x WA, 1 x TAS, 1 x NT
  • Abolish the Fixture, which is intentionally or unintentionally clearly biased in its current format.
  • Move to a fair 30 game H&A season where every team plays each other twice. To help accomodate this, reduce match time duration, either by Qtr length or Time On adjustment & increase Team List sizes.

Pros: a true National Competition that is fairer, & far less Vic centric. A more concentrated talent pool would increase the overall quality of games, & reduce the number of lopsided outcomes.

Cons: Horrible for the purists & a death sentence for the ruling Victorian boys club.

Fortunately not everyone resides in a "if it doesn't appear on (social) media it didn't happen" type world.

The guy has a sick mum in Darwin, and as the article said on the PAFC site dated October 11.....
Rioli will spend some time with family in Darwin and the Tiwi Islands before shifting to Adelaide next month.

Sorry if you're confusing commonsense with a "protection racket", the guy is home with his family during his mandated break, most likely with a fitness program to follow while he's over there. How about waiting until he rocks up looking like fat Daniel Motlop before you get all melty?

The really pathetic thing is that if we had a new coach next season you'd probably be talking Rioli up like we poached a peak Peter Matera off West Coast.
