I'm trying to put into words what the issue with Downie was.

Not even that he was soft, he was just ...there...ambling around, getting an occassional kick...getting an occasional handball, amble over to somewhere else on the field, get an occasional recieve.

No urgency, no getting stuck in, no fervour...just 'there'...poodling along.

I felt like yelling out at Box Hill one day "Its later than you think, Conor!"
Last summer, I watched him get beat up on the pads with the boxing instructor who was clearly trying to illicit some sort of response from him, such was the beating he was copping to the head and face.

It was hard to watch, but he never really fired up.

They mean our picks come into earlier picks through bid matching. Crows don’t have an early pick (46) so it’s not helpful
Sorry - I should have been clearer. Who is it, and where are they expected to go?

Actually, I did it myself. This guy: Crows set to land father-son prospect, swap picks with Roos, Lions

Meant to be a borderline first round. Guess they'll either go into deficit (prob not ideal given the strength of next year), or want to do a live trade.

Fergus Greene as a DFA?

That's a STOCK photo of a green square.

Liam Stocker confirmed!

In all seriousness, does Fergus Greene count as a delisted free agent? Wouldn't we be able to sign him at another time?
I know he's been at Box Hill but otherwise haven't been keeping up with all things Fergus.
What's the expectations?

Needed a stock photo of a green square with a floating moustache in it.

Greene was delisted by the bulldogs so I guess a lifetime DFA now.

If we are signing him I'd suggest it's as an immediate, mature body replacement for Gunston while Jai Serong develops.

Or a 'break glass in case of emergency' up forward if Kosi regresses and Lewis is injured again. He isn't a key forward, but he's a smart 3rd tall that could fill a temporary void.

He isn't a tall, nor does he play like a tall. He's going nowhere near the Kosi or Lewis roles.

Greene is an opportunistic small/mid sized forward, I imagine his selection is to free up guys like Moore and Wingard for more midfield minutes than anything.

I don’t see why Fergus Greene wouldn’t be able to play straight away. He’s likely to have more impact on games next year than Serong. All the attention from the opposition defenders will be on Mitchell Lewis. A forward-line of Lewis, Koschitzke and Greene as the three marking targets could work. Greene has already played under Sam Mitchell before and knows some of the Hawthorn forwards.

He is capable of playing taller than he is. His footy smarts allow him to play multiple forward roles. At least at VFL level.

My point about Kosi and Lewis is that I believe Greene is more likely to get games should both of those players lose form or hit injury snags. At least initially.

I do believe there is room for this forward set up though...

Moore Kosi Wingard
Breust Lewis Greene
