Had a vision today we were lining up against the Dons, Friday night at the G, r1. What would be the midfield match ups now?

R: Meek/ Reeves, Newcombe, Worpel, Ward/ Wingard vs
Draper, Merrett, Parish, Shiel/ Caldwell

Wings: Amon, Morrison/ Day vs
Perkins, Langford/ Cox

I reckon we'd compete well in that scenario.
If he is fit Stephens is a real smoky for round 1

For those who missed Rob McCartney on SEN.

I love the aggressive approach, we all moaned the late season wins specially last year(not that we barracked for loses).

There's always a fear when rebuilding that you just end up middling like the Saints currently, but resetting our list in two stages not only ensures an extended period down the bottom gaining access to elite talent but creates a balance age profile for the future.

25 x 1
24 x 3
23 x 5
22 x 2
21 x 4
20 x 3
19 x 3
18 x 1

Age profile for players that are in our top 26 players, the 24 and under age spread is brilliant.

A few thoughts on our list management following the conclusion of the trade period:

Rob McCartney's interview was interesting - he identified that we have "10 players that we think can play in our next premiership... probably a couple more than that" - and then qualified that he wasn't talking about senior players who would support the younger players coming through (mentioning Bruest, Wingard, Sicily, Impey, Amon, Hardwick).

Going through our side, I drafted up a list of who I thought they may be thinking of - I'd have to think that they are thinking of the Under-25 crew given Hardwick is considered a senior player:

Players who McCartney mentioned individually: Newcombe, Ward, MacDonald, Moore, Day, CJ, Lewis, Reeves (8)
Additional players who I think he may be thinking of: Scrimshaw, MaGinness (2)

I wonder who else may fall into the bracket that Hawthorn genuinely believe are key pieces in our next premiership team - I would think Sam's got faith in Worpel, whilst I know Sam was dead keen on getting Blanck into the side from Box Hill - so wouldn't be surprised if those two are in that group or aren't far off.

On Mark McKenzie, he did come out and state emphatically that there was still the DFA period, and the draft. I'd have to think that we've got our eyes on someone/multiple people to pick up as a DFA - Stocker? Brown brothers? Narkle? Collier-Dawkins? (Poulter if he gets the arse?). Can't see anyone else worth taking a punt on... but for the love of god - please not Aarts...

I think im counting 6 available spots (including Cat A rookies) if we keep Seamus and Saunders.

With 6,24,41,48,50,52 and 65 picks. Plus we'd want to keep a buffer of one spot for SPP/MSD and maybe a DFA is on the radar.

Hoping we can bundle 48,50,52, abd 65 into something meaningful.

I think Denver would be another to be part of that group.

Meek and Stephens are both likely to play a dozen or more games each next season.
+Second round pick in a highly rated draft in 2023.

That's not too bad for TOM/JOM given we signalled long ago that TOM was on the way out.
It's not ideal, but we're now in a position to reshape out midfield and have a couple of very good prospects.

I don't think Rob's very good at this, just let Sam take the airwaves from here on.
Apparently Jaeger is fine, Yea after been told he can GO by the senior coach, and after he swiped the tears.
Sam’s such a horrible person, not stopping Jaeger leaving to play at a finals club in his home state.
