dick measuring contest, nothing more truer on BigFooty mate
But it's not even your dick.

It's like being in a group of friends, and measuring one of your friend's dicks that you idolise. But that 'friend' doesn't even really know who you are. Then you brag about it to other people.

I mean, WTF.

Interesting regarding the Swans. They lost thousands of members during covid. And unlike most clubs, they appear to have struggled to return their membership to pre vivid levels.

Maybe I'm on my own here....but why do people give a f*** about how members a club has?

I don't really care but I once did and the reason is simple - it helps ensure the future of your club. There was a time when Hawthorn were broke and a merger nearly happened. The members, including myself, categorically voted against it (unlike the Melbourne base) and the membership tripled the following year to essentially save the club.

Financially, we are now in the top 3 or so clubs and have been for at least 10 years so the numbers no longer matter. For the big and financially strong clubs it doesn't matter too much but all clubs have vulnerability (maybe not West Coast), even the likes of the Collingwood who were broke in the late 90's/early 00's and Richmond with the "save our skins". Hell, even COVID reconfirmed some of the vulnerability, with only a couple of clubs (including my own) able to be fully financially self-reliant through the pandemic.

Apparently the cut off date is now August 31.

Membership numbers are dodgy and rubbery, no two teams count the same thing, a lot of pet memberships counted by some clubs!

Crows numbers are real people and holding up during our winters of discontent rebuild.

GWS = 30,861 - is this for real? This many "members" but hardly any go to the games? Is this a proper figure or something invented to make it look like they've got a supporter base?

I've got a mate who frequently gets free tickets to see GWS and he reckons there's never more than a few thousand GWS supporters at their home games, often outnumbered by interstate club supporters and outnumbered every year against the Swans. They only had a few hundred Orange People at the SCG last week apparently.
