Here's a Neale at M3 team. I don't mind it at all.

$67,600 banked

I compared this to my 2021 starting side, just out of curiosity, fairly similar...

2021 structure:
5-0-3
4-1-6
2-0-1
1-2-5

2021 player price breakdown:
$700k+: 1
$600k-$699k: 5
$500k-$599k: 6
$450k-$499k: 0
$210k-$299k: 3
$140k-$210k: 3
cheapos: 12

in the bank: $167,900

2022 structure:
5-0-3
3-0-8
2-0-1
2-3-3

2022 player price breakdown:
$700k+: 0
$600k-$699k: 4
$500k-$599k: 7
$450k-$499k: 1
$210k-$299k: 3
$140k-$210k: 5
cheapos: 10

in the bank: $67,600

let's hope some more cheapos pop up. having so many high price cash cows hurts, and I really want Neale at M4

No ....staying with 5 Mids ...Neale at M5

Will only take 2 of the 3 premium Rookies ....and a no to Finlay Macrae

Doing this too, but subject to change if Macrae Jnr can convince me.

Do you faith in the cheapos, or running a mid-price-madness side? I know it's early and there's plenty of time for rookies to appear, but as of right now, all the ticks are in the middle, and unfortunately they're all expensive.

I have 10 cheapos (sub $150k) and I'm not confident any of them play lol

Neale at M5 is my dream
Neale at M4 is my hope
Neale at M3 is my reality

ps. I'll be surprised if FinMac doesn't average 80+ and play 20+ games. I'm expecting a heap of CBAs and time on-ball. Bulked up and improved his fitness. Jackson averaged 100 in his 2nd season, I'm not expecting that from Fin, but as I said, anything less than 80 and all or most games will surprise me.

I've been tossing up between Macrae-Titch-Walsh-Neale, and Macrae-Steele-Petracca-Neale. Leaning towards the second. Then Rowell, JHF, Daicos, Ward.
Tracc worries me as someone who's just as likely to score 130 as he is to score 85. I'd still take him with Steele, since Steele was R1P1 for me (Belco represent) but I feel like the $30k gap would be worth it if you can find the room.

Running Premo's in the midfield .....3 premo's / 2 mid-pricers / 1 rookie in the fwds ....counting Cogs as a mid-pricer

In DEF ...running 3 Premo's .....but will add a mid-pricer at D4

I’m currently rolling with Macrae-Steele-Neale-Rowell-rooks.

If Rowell can produce what we know he is capable of then I’m happy with starting like that.

I have Whitfield at D5 lol. Just like last season, I reckon we'll struggle for 3 cheap, playing def rookies

Highmore, Sharp and Kozi played in 2021. Lots took a donut at D8 instead of one of them though

I'm more worried by the FWD Rookies at the moment

Latest from the dog pound

The trend is moving toward a 4 premo midfield. Mid rookies looking very promising ATS. Little concerned with defensive rooks so I’ve introduced KidColeman as a D/F swingman as well as some expensive place setters to allow for $$ downgrade if cheapies present. Batting 5 deep up forward allows for M/F flex (eg Dunks midfield) in the event some of those ‘supposed’ top mid rooks falter. If a Kemp shows promise, KC can swing forward as added cover.

Also contemplating on whether to go Oliver>Petracca and get Rachelle @ F6. Feedback and critique appreciate on both team and supposed trade. Cheers.

most of the super premos. most of the super rookies. few pods. itll do for tonight.

one of these starting team combos ive made is gonna win a weekly and ill be pissed i chose the wrong one.

4 def premos are self explanatory. 5 would be nice with one of short or ridley.

yes. no macrae. but hello bont 👋 steele and oliver too is always nice to look at. got doubts over daicos and ward not getting dropped at some stage hence the fin and dyl picks.

nicnat was one of my first picks. served me extremely well last year. no arguing with gawn.

dunkley can go 600k+ and ill be cut if i miss out on that. taranto gives me a lot more hope over players like heeney and butters. the fwd rookies are the only thing upsetting me with this team.

Irrelevant stat. I don’t think he’s a great pick because he’s priced at his maximum but if you pick Crisp you’re picking him because of his new role which has nothing to do with Moore or Howe and you’re picking him for his outstanding durability. Upgrade target for me though.
When he went mid and got CBAs he actually scored worse than when he was in defense

no one has bont. no one has nicnat. no one has taranto. (no one being the same cookie cutter teams up here that i idolise and obsess over).

why no love for bont?? an extra 50k from macrae goes a long way.
Because bont goes up and down and will eventually drop to sub 600k. Macrae is fairly steady and a fantastic captain option.

My view is Bont has a higher ceiling and generally throws out a couple 170 - 200 games each year but at the same time is liable to to throw out a 60 - 80 which can be costly in leagues.

His average balances out but overalls he’s simply less consistent and reliable than Macrae.

A fit and firing Dunkley seems to impact Bonts SuperCoach scores quite significantly.

Only reason I don’t have Taranto is the chatter that he could play majority forward while Greene is out.

Expensive rookies everywhere... 4 premo mid (Neale M4) seems to be the "meta" at the moment. Hopefully we see some good rookies popup in the DEF/FWD line which would make running a 5 premo mid more viable and add some variation to teams. Happy with this for now.

Gone back to 3 premo mid again. I want to make all those precious $$$$. I think i'm pretty much settled on this for now but interested in your thoughts.

As per my previous post

1. The priority is job security. Even with rookies, I'm aiming for those that are likely to play the most amount of games. Need as close to 30 playing each week as possible.
2. Looking for DPP links on all lines as long as it doesn't detract from the strength of my team or does not fit with #1..
3. I feel the majority of money will be made in the midfield so I'm happy to spend extra $ on rookies there.

Did you have any specific criteria in terms of ownership % when selecting this? I just checked and 5 of the top 12 averaging mids from last year are at 4% ownership or lower. Staggering. Lyons, Zerrett, Parish, Guthrie and Laird.

No specific number I didn't put much thought into making it. All are low ownership though 11% might be the highest one IIRC. It wouldn't surprise me if 3-4 of those guys you listed finish in the Top10 Mids this year.

Lyons is the one that interests me, but I'm taking Neale so don't want another Lion. He's a great pick though, tackles a lot, and is consistent so he will be a POD all year.

Zerrett meh, small chol'd kent. Parish pissed his pants when he got tagged last year. Shiel and Caldwell back in there too.
Laird was a defender so doesn't really fit, suspect he's priced at his maximum, and given Adelaide will cope a few floggings this year you'll probably get him cheaper.
Can't see Guthrie going big again, that was weird. As weird as his dainty little steps.

I disagree on Laird. Reckon that Kentie has a 120+ season in him.
