Besides Cripps and Walsh, the blues have a bang avg midfield. He'll be in there full time.
Full time mid selectable in def.

I really like Hayden Young as a Def breakout contender. I know a few of the legends on this forum were keen on him this time last year but it wasn't to be due to the early season injury. He was impressive in his return though, looked every bit a Def premo in the last 4 games.

98 average over the last 4 weeks.

I decided to downgrade Petracca and go for a three-premo midfield so that I could shore up my backline. I couldn't quite afford a Short or Crisp, so I chose Hayden Young as a potential breaout POD, with the other option I considered being Zach Tuohy (a consistent performer in last year's Mo Bros). Zak Butters could be swapped out for Tarryn Thomas after I see the pre-season games.

I've been considering Berry for a couple of seasons. Luckily though, never went for it. He hasn't gone on with it the way I thought he might of.

Rayner has been in & out of my side but unless he's playing in the middle pre-season, his opportunities might be limited at such an awkward price. Coleman seems unlikely to average >70 game so his cash generation/value is pretty limited.

Young could be one that tempts me if he gets the kick outs pre-season.

Pray there are cheaper rookies than McCartin and Minge. Maybe don’t take all 3 of JHF, Daicos and Ward. Rowell if you really want to downgrade someone significant.

I don't understand this argument. It gets thrown around a bit.

If he is the fourth best mid rookie available, then isn't he worth it, regardless if he is on the bench or not? Money making is surely more important than getting his scores on the field.

Exacerbating this is the new DPP changes, where I could move Daicos into my backline after Round 6 and be able to play Stephens on field in place of a DEF rookie.

I get that it might be smarter to invest money into other lines (say, a Rachele) but I think Stephens will be a better rookie prospect than Josh in the long run.
