Not quite GnR but I kind of like this Hybrid set-up with 6 rookies on-field. Yes, I know, too many 102k rooks...won't be a problem if all except the designated doughnut play though. If StK pick up that mature aged Jack Hayes R/F and he's 102k as well I'd swap N Long to him.

I’m going Titch and a rookie instead of the rampaging redknob Rowell and that sexy mofo Crippa, but otherwise similar as are most of the iterations we see before any scratchies are played.

I’ve recovered from the physical trauma that owning Cripps in ‘20 and ‘21 bestowed on my chiseled physique, but the emotional and mental scarring will last a lifetime.

Yep - I'm willing to take a risk on Crippa.
Rowell is there until he proves that he shouldn't be there in the pre-season games.

We all have players that burnt us.
Mine are Dusty and JDG - so, I'm refusing to include them in my team, despite how attractive their prices are.
Fyfe and Kelly too - burnt!

BTW - Titch is very safe. He was a stable in my team last year.

I see room for aggressive expansion

Finally made my first team. $38k in the tank. Rookies are placeholders

Probably going to dump one of Cogs/Gresham and I'd like to get Parish for Neale

just dont drop cogs whatever you do. 8 players from pies and hawks alone. also neale is great value at 540k. wouldnt be quick to swap him for parish.

With the likely chance Callum Mills wont play the first round and is still recovering from a achilles injury l have decided on removing him for Greenwood and also while l was at it replace Rioli on my backline with Whitfield. If Mills does play then l might revert back to my original team...l could have picked Mitchell but most people have him and l thought of being different.. Screenshot (273).jpg

Nice to see someone taking a chance with a POD in Greenwood. Bit tired of every team being the same. Also loving the Laird selection.

Even if the Greenwood pick works he wont go up much in price.
You can probably afford to watch him and grab him early if he goes off.
I would go
Greenwood to one of Rowell, Berry, Rookie
Witts to Grundy, Nic Nat (best for byes) or Gawn (Best captain option.)
Lock 2 captain options away in the ruck at the start of the year.

Probably.
I think Grundy has slowed as the pies midfield has got worse.
It is a total guess though.
Gawn gave better captain scores last year I reckon.

I'm trying to select two of Gawn/Grundy/Darcy, just can't decide which two.

In 2021;

Gawn had a total of 9 scores over 130, which I'd happily take as a Captain score. 6 prior to Rd 12 and 3 after Rd 12. He had 1 score under 90, and 4 other scores in the 90's.

Grundy had 8 "Captain" scores. 6 prior to Rd 12 and 2 after. He had 6 scores under 90 and 1 in the 90's.

Darcy was the opposite in that he had 2 "Captain" scores prior to Rd 12 and 5 after Rd 12. 3 scores under 90 and 4 in the 90's.

Going on that I think Gawn's floor is better, so he is in. I'm leaning to Darcy given his finish to 2021 at this stage.

It is one of those decisions we agonize over in pre season that realistically wont matter much once the ball is bounced.
+ or - 10ppg max IMO.
Darcy plays very late 4 Sundays and 1 Saturday night first 5 rounds
Gawn plays early Wed, Sat night, Friday, Thursday, Saturday night
Grundy plays Friday, Saturday, Sat night, Saturday, Thursday.
Darcy is the best late weekend captain option. IMO
Gawn the early weekend VC option.
Grundy has a bit of both.
It depends what you prefer I suppose.

Going for more durability as to the reason no Dunkley, Whitfield, Butters or De Goey. Cogs and Curnow are cheap.
Neale was moving like Cripps was two years ago so no thank you, Grundy will be in the fifties for total points scored so no again.
It's a game of luck and there is every chance my predictions are way off but I'm going to run with them anyway.
