B: LIoyd, Whitfield, Sicily, McInerney, McCartin, Sinn (SDK, Boyd)

M: Miller, Petracca, Brayshaw, Neale, Dusty, Daicos, JHF, Ward (Soligo, Hough, McEntee)

R: Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)

F: Taranto, Thomas, Heeney, McGovern, Rachele, Baldwin (Martin, Kelly)

Thoughts?

Team is fine mate. There are a few PODs, which means a lot on here will tell you no. But just back your gut. Baker and Rozee would be solid picks, albeit unpopular.

I prefer Hewett over McInerney and Sicily, but that's personal preference

Dean is out for ~10 weeks, gotta trade him out. McCartin will play, but he's $50k+ more expensive, so you gotta find the $$$ somewhere

Davies for $200k is way too much on your mid bench. DStephens has a spot on the wing for Syd locked in, take him for cheaper. Alternatively we should get other cheapies (MacDonald, Soligo, Hough, Joyce (once he's added), etc)

Doubt Tsitas plays for a while, he's been injured and hasn't featured in preseason matches

What are you expecting from Stengle? Never averaged more than 60, small forward role, probs not worth it at his price.
Thanks Steve
Appreciate you taking the time.

View attachment 1341159What do you guys think? Have I got the $50k in the bank? ;)

I’ve still got about $50k in the kitty, any recommendations or feedback?

I thought about Witts, even put him in my team, but then i realised he's really only a 90avg ruck and so therefore he's going to cost 2 trades. Not really worth it imo.

Draper is probably even a better option at around the same price.

Draper wont ever be a top SC ruck I believe. He's got a really poor disposal.
Witts has managed to put out some really big scores in the past.

He's only played 18 games or so. Takes contested marks and is a real competitor. He had 3 tons towards the end of last season as well which is a positive sign.

I think if he can put a full season together this year, he will be starting next season at $500k+.

Injuries are his major query atm.

It's time to reveal my round 1 weapons

Open to positive thoughts 😃

Nice side.
Hewett should outperform the price comfortably.
English hopefully takes the next step and offers cover.
Those rookies are more reasonable in price and all look a good chance to get a run early.
Midfield strong.
Only flaw is that Nick Daicos has to be at M1...
Out of interest, why Gawn over Grundy?

I figured this but this is going to be a very unique year compared to past years and I think not having them is going to be bad.
It's tricky, reckon a fair few will end up having to park the odd kid like a Ward or a Rachele on the pine. You won't be Robinson Crusoe there.

McInermey an interesting pick. Get the angle, he's looked good.
Rate Brayshaw, nice to see a side with him.
Dusty in the MIDs to optimize fielded total early on, yeah?
Sinn, Mcentee and Baldwin seem less safe, keep an eye out.

A bit more tinkering - Preuss no longer at R2 (may not be R3 by R1) - changed up my backs a fair bit and hoping closer to the best rookies available. Am flirting with Dunkley in for JDG.

Keep an eye out on the rookies, O'Driscoll, Hollands, Stephens and co. seem less likely, e.g.
Great midfield, nice backline, potentially value ruck combo.
Don't love DeGoey, not sure we'll be doing the kick to kick gear as much this year, he feasted on that last year. But he's priced OK, I guess.

Thanks.

Have punted Preuss JDG and McInerny for Hayes, Dunkley and Hewett.

I think it's looking a bit more balanced now.

Rookies will depend on R1 selections.

I’m really likening this team - probably because it’s very similar to mine.

Thomas over Butters is a big call but one that I wouldn’t try to talk you out of. Good luck!

Think Gawn is the best

Was Darcy for a while

Roast me lads. Taking Whitfield hurts every fibre of my soul because I just know he's going to get into a contest with a light southerly breeze by R3 which means he'll miss the following month

Have not been posting much because work has been screwing me royally but lots of tinkering behind the scenes

Wait, you're priority is work over fantasy football? GTFO man

Definitely agree with the Hewett statement, he is what Carlton were missing another contested ball winner, Cripps carried them as their soul ball winner for so long. I can't see why Hewett wouldn't play anywhere but the midfield.

TT is pretty close to the most talented guy on our list prior to JHF and he'll be through the guts a lot - I can see him having a huge season. Can see him being a top 5 fwd.

Off topic but there is a myth that Whitfield is soft and easily injured - he is actually hard at it, the knocks that have put him out were ****ing decent - the concussion last year was going back with the flight that a lot of bulkier players wouldn't do. So at least you're taking a player who will put himself into the contest when needed!

Otherwise your team looks solid. I don't like the Hewett, Brodie (although I have him...) and Ralphsmith picks but I think the other 27 picks are fine and then it's square peg round hole for those spots.

Just keep an eye on mid rookies - Tom Joyce from Eagles when added as a supplementary pick, Eagles Hough, and Hawks Macdonald probably the 3 main ones I'd think.

Key difference between work and SC is although I’m a pleb at both, one of them pays me :moustache:

(In all seriousness my roster for the last month has been flipping awful. Couldn’t prioritise SC if I tried)

Agree completely on Whitfield. He’s just made of glass but there’s no doubt he goes hard at it. Still makes him a huge burn man that will increase my average anoos clenching by 50 % :moustache:

I agree on Brodie and Ralphsmith (I think Hewett ends up D6 at worst given the role he’s playing at my lot) but my logic was given there’s **** all cheap rooks I wanted to make sure I took 3 bonafide SPs in the mids + Neale - because IMO you lose the most points having suboptimal mids than anywhere else because the SPs on other lines (ruck exempt) don’t normally average 120+. So having some speculative mid pricers on those lines doesn’t hurt as much when everyone’s F2 is barely averaging 95 anyway

Did keep an eye on the Eagles rooks. Wouldn’t mind Tsitas getting a run for the Suns either but looks unlikely
