Does Pitt need to miss because he was subbed off? Isn’t that the rule
No Wingard got subbed out last week and played against us. The Chad ruling opened up an interesting can of worms.. no injury but feeling some tightness... I wonder how many med subs will occur where a player mentions "tightness" gets subbed out and next week back into it.

I always find it interesting, that after each game people start penciling their changes, understandable at times. Given the footy we are playing, I doubt players will get dropped for a quiet ish day, if they were good/reasonable the week before

I think Saad for Boyd is a given, but after that, it will probably be more tactical moves on the back of sound form at the lower levels

On Dow, great to see him finding the ball at the lower levels (which should be a given), but unless someone like Kennedy is injured/out of form, Dow will struggle to push players out of the starting 22

Dows gotta do it for 4 games in a row imo. Then you start considering who he can replace.

Unless someone's absolutely stinking it up. Which no one is.

What? You think a club who has to manage people, their wellbeing and performance don't knee-jerk like random people on the Internet?

Fear Dow will be traded at season's end...

There's going to be no change to the engine room for this coming Sunday (unless H&S Protocols...)

If he has a huge year in the VFL and plays 10 good senior games, he'll have some currency and we desperately need to redistribute our list make up. I'd prefer he becomes a star with us but if he just proves enough to have currency that'll be acceptable.

Need another KPD or a genuine tall to play both ends.

I think saad will come in for boyd
And probably McDonald for plowman or Young. anyone know how Liam stocker played in the vfl?
And I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two keep missing with covid protocols for the next 6-8 weeks

Dow in, Walsh to wing, LOB out?

He was too shaky again today imo and those fumbles are costing us...

He wasn't alone, Boyd too was pretty bad at times....

Same with Williams... had an overall decent game but there were kicks missing the mark, efforts that could have been much better etc.

Maybe go with:

IN: Dow, Stocker, Saad
OUT: LOB, Boyd, Fisher

Stocker is best 22.
But, you'd think he'd have a block of VFL games after having no pre season...

I personally didn't mind youngs game. Don't recall any howlers and was a high pressure game. Covers the ground well.

We need to drop the following players:

Plowman, Owies, O'Brien, Boyd.

Subject to fitness, bring in:

McGovern/McDonald, Martin, Dow, Saad.

Oh hello dj

Doubt LOB will be dropped.

As for McGov/OMac ...

McGov out for 3-4 weeks - Hamstring

Oscar McDonaldBackExperienced a back spasm in Round 2. He will miss Round 3 to allow his back to settle and will be further assessed next week. (Update: 29 March)

Watch the tapes on the GWS game and we'll have the template on how to nullify some of Miller's influence.

Think it was Ash at times who they sent to him to put some work into containing him.

He had a quiet game by his high standards so we should try a similar thing.

A Hewett and Kennedy tandem effort might work.

GC probably a good matchup for him too. Weiters can go toe-to-toe with Levi, Young can play loose off Chol.

Not sure about the matchup for Plow, might be better with another runner, especially if Saad doesn't get up. He played a solid game though, so doubtful he comes out for anything less than a significant upgrade (ie. Gov). Wouldn't be totally against Willo taking that spot if we want a bit more run and carry.

Just let Hewett take him - less important to nullify Miller than it is to beat his supporting mids in the other matchups. He can't do it all himself - blanket Rowell, Anderson, Fiorini and Ellis and Touk will be left with long kicks to a contest.

Plow is a perfect match for Sexton.

Plow is a perfect match for Sexton.

Dunno about that - Sexton loves a ground ball, and Plow much more competent in the air. Reckon Sexton would turn him pretty easily. I actually think Williams is the matchup for Sexton where possible (or Saad if he's fit), better at halving the contest on the deck and able to then run off the lazy Sexton on the rebound.

Agree. We’ve won our first 3 games so the team is obviously jelling very well. Am not against changes, but reluctant to change a winning formula.

A reason to drop someone has to be more than player X had a quiet game or missed a couple of passes, or that player Y had one really good reserves game and must come in.

Sometimes posters calling for a player to be dropped will use the same reason to keep another player in, ie. “player X is doing ok but reserves won’t hurt them, player Y is doing ok but keep him in because it’ll get him to AFL standard.” It’s more favouritism that anything else, hope those days are gone for the MC.

The coaching staff see these players day in, day out. See how they train, understand whether they’re playing their team role. That can be a very different perception to what we see from the stands.
