I think there's a very good chance we get all of Hinge, Gibcus, McCartin, Sinn and SDK. The issue is they're expensive, and their scoring power is low. The appeal with taking them all is you can load up on mid ultra premos, which looks bloody sexy on paper. But we'll probably get a heap of cheap mid rookies, as well as the holy trinity of JHF, Daicos and Ward, so should we load up there with rooks and get premos elsewhere? Bloody interesting this year.

If we only get McCartin and Gibcus it'll cause a lot of problems for people. Many aren't prepared to load up on premos down back at the expense of less mid ultra premos, so they'll load up on guys like Chapman and Richards, which could destroy seasons.

I really want to be able to select 4 rookie defs. I want to avoid selecting a premo at d5 to keep some flexibility. At the moment if there are only 3 rookie defs I will take Chapman I guess. If there are only 2 I’m really not sure what I’ll do.

Who's the best 102k backline loop if it comes to us needing that?

Joel Smith is going under the radar. Full game time in both the praccy games they played scoring 87 and 67.

A few guys might replace him (Petty, Hibberd, Rivers) but I'm taking the risk with SDK unlikely to be named - a warm body is better than nobody.

Taking Uwland as loop is good for looping Gibcus and when Daicos turns Def/Mid r6.
But a playing D8 more important, so, I think Ned Long at M11 is better, can loop JHF, with swap at F8 bench loop as well.

So much this.
If you are hoping for all of the above, then you are going to be left very disappointed. Having to plan for Gibcus I have had to accept my second favourite top line players, and need to go 5 deep down back, which I think is the best course of action.

But Why.gif

I don't normally stop mid operation ....but I heard the discussion & felt compelled to call in

In a situation where there "may" be a dearth of DEF Rookies ....why would you deliberately select a loop player

I can assure you, you will have plenty of loop options, quick enough ....naturally

My problem is ....Gibcus plays Tomorrow .....I don't really want all of Gibcus, McCartin, and Hinge on the bench ....selecting all 3, leaves SFA $$$$ in the bank .....trouble is I can't ignore Gibcus, believing Hinge will be selected for SUN game

Hinge in all probability does get selected .....but am I prepared to gamble on it

I'm in the same boat - you will find out if Hinge is selected in the team or the extended bench before the Tigers / Blues game.
The issue I have is that the difference between SDK and Gibcus means choosing either Gawn or Grundy, so I need to make the decision beforehand, which is balls.

I personally probably won't start a loop player for this reason. Could be potentially left with no bench cover very early on.
But will have to see how rookies pan out.

I have done it in previous years and has worked out great. Can see the merit in being able to loop rookies.
Daicos, JHF, Ward, Stephens in the mid.
And DEF if your premo deep, with could also be good to loop:
Gibcus, McCartin, Hinge, SDK.
Depending on your structure and who's selected.

Noticed that this morning. Played last 2 games of 2021 for a 65 and 93, out for finals.

Soligo in with Dawson and Matt Crouch in the side is a good sign.

Will we ? ....RICH play THURS .....we won't even get the team lists till FRID ....and that will be a list of 25 players, I assume

Soligo :heavycheck:
Hough :heavycheck:
MacDonald
CStephens

If we get at least 1 of MacDonald and CStephens, then I'll probably drop Dyl Stephens and take 3 cheap green dots on my bench. Use the cash elsewhere.

If Dyl Stephens does well, I can always trade down JHF or Ward to him in rd3, if required.

Hinge was in the main group for the Crows training this morning, FWIW.
