Try watching it not in slow motion, wasn't deliberate to eye gouge. He was swiping, as most players do and just happen to get him in the eye.

I agree with this.

But started the consistent theme of easy free kicks to us that went unpaid and ended up being a Richmond goal.

Cerra missing sucked a fair bit of two-way* running out of our corridor play, with Hewett left to play more of a lone hand in that respect, then Docherty and Saad having to take turns keeping things somewhat under control. Still think Setterfield was the play there.

Having Newman unable to deal with Richmond's speed most of the time, let alone once he'd committed to an attacking run, Newnes not really opening up any space on the outside, Cottrell not able to pick when to push hard to present for the football and screwing up too many opportunities when he did have possession, and Owies not being able to pressure readily either just adds up.

You're just leaving it so that too many others have to play mistake free football, and then it rained and we still tried to play mistake free football. Bizarre decision making from Monday onwards.

First half gave me flashbacks of watching the Carlton of old. Pressure got to most of us.
Saad so good and LOB is really growing on me.
Alot of noodle-scratching ump decisions and that review was completely unconvincing that it was touched.
In saying that we blew alot of easy chances in front.
Be nice to run out top 22 at some point.
I used to not mind Richmond, can't stand them now and Bolton - may karma catch up on you in the nastiest way....

Boyd was great and someone snubbed him from the poll🤣
I yelled at the TV a lot tonight and the dog wasn’t sure if I needed a hug or to just get the F away.
I’m A little bit upset with some “Rymes like” Dung Flies!
I thought it was the best game i have seen him play, really has a penetrating kick for a bloke not very tall.

I never, ever blame the umpires. It’s an imperfect part of the game and you get some, you lose some. But my god that was the most one-sided umpiring performance I think I’ve ever seen in a Carlton game. Cost us dearly, perhaps the game.

Our dumb footy cost us the game.

The umpiring was like twisting the self inflicted knife.

Younger and fitter maybe, that’s what’ll get you over us come finals if we play. Thought you shoulda won tonight, doesn’t feel like a win, few lucky fingers saved us. Our midfield is cooked.
Not just younger and fitter.
We have a lot of incredibly talented players too. Just bad luck a fair few weren't playing tonight.
Anyway. You won so congrats.
Any player who throws Doc on the ground is a complete arse though. And that eye gauge to Saad was revolting.
Can't stand thuggish players.
Ours or anyone elses.

I had no issue with the backline tonight, they were seriously under the pump, clearly undermanned and held up reasonably well

Sure, a few contests young would want again, missed mark or kill the contest and same with durdin, but they are still learning.

Thought durdin was pretty good first up and will be much better for the experience. Quite a few good spoils and decent disposals. Ok, one bad handball to plow and kick under pressure (your not in Kansas anymore)

Saad and doc were great, Newman was ok (not his best game)

Mids struggled. Cripps was ok, Walsh great first QTR, poor after that, Kennedy really bad, Hewitt pretty decent but needed more

Was really disappointed with the fwd setup, sat way too deep and cost us

Then we get it deep and they have an extra.....wtf was out extra doing all night?

If Martin is the cream on the top player you all suggest... Then it must be a poor tasting cake...

He's massively over paid has done sfa since he has been here, has 2 or 3 notable games...
Would rather Honey in who actually shows some mongrel, hunger and determination (something Martin was suppose to offer)

Lynch better get 3 weeks, looked deliberate on the replay

Not much too say about the game, Richmond were better for 90% of the game.

Felt like every time we really needed a goal we kicked a behind that sapped all momentum

Better luck next week i hope..
Won't get and shouldn't get any weeks

Tiger just too smart a team in wet weather. We like it dry, clean and fast footy.

Their pressure on the ball carrier was relentless and forced us into poor and rushed decision making. We consistently kept over handballing which is a killer in wet weather, and a double killer against a team like the Tigers.

We had huge heart in getting it back close in the last quarter and who knows what might've happened of Newnes' kick wasn't touched.

We review, we learn and we play for a.win next week. The boys will be hurting no doubt. Go Blues!

That umpiring was trash, never seen such inconsistency through a match. Wasn't all against us too, tiges were stiff to not get a few but think overall they got the rub of the green. lets face it though, they smashed us through work rate - they were everywhere. So often they had 3 at the drop of the ball or someone at the end of a grub kick off the ground.

Mids got smashed, but the backline was solid. Boyd's best game, thought Young actually played alright considering how quick the ball was coming in, Doc and Saad were great but had a few errors and plow did some nice things. Cotts also was solid.

also, the ball wasn't touched based on that footage.

When that bit of biffo broke out, who were the three players that just turned their back and walked away from it instead of going in to fly the flag or even cheap calm down?

I could T pick it on tv but three or four players just looked at it, turned around and let walking off. Zero leadership whoever it was .

Saad was unbelievable tonight , man was like a ballerina in the wet and a juggling clown at the circus , ball on a string stuff .. such a weapon
And Doc! Doc was superb.
The backs all put in a massive effort.

I’m still interested in how Plowman going for the mark looking at the ball and the Richmond player wrestling him with his back to the back gets no free kick. The. The obvious Saad eye gouge, Cripps grab and pull back of the jumper. Doc not having marked the back yet gets high tackled and pinged for holding the ball. A touched goal that wasn’t touched. Can I go on.

I saw Newman turn to walk over and join in but who was it that just couldn’t be stuffed going over ?
