Wonder if that's still on the radar as something we can work towards again, particularly now we've got some decent facilities available.

Yes, you need a good core of VFL regulars. We just do not have enough such players.

Hundred per cent in fact we lost guys like Brede Seccul , Kade Answerth, coffield.

Ah I just had a look, I had my timeline wrong. We were apparently planning to go standalone in 2014-2016, then it seems we opted to continue with Sandringham, develop our facilities and introduce our AFLW team.

I would have gone after Burgoyne when he retired for a playing/coaching role.

Or a Nathan Jones type, need some leaders out there teaching the kids.

Need to have success at VFL level to keep the core of your VFL players, or else they can drop back to suburban footy and earn maybe better coin anyway dominating at that level.

When was the last time a Sandy player got picked up? The only one I can think of is James Magner

No - played the whole game, just didn't play that well. Shocking entries i50 didn't help. Ended up spending a fair bit of time on the wing trying to get him involved.

Last week all playing together and learning to dominate it looked like a good idea. We might have won today with the guys we took into the AFL. Hopefully Windhager has a great game.
