We need to scour the VFL/SANFL /WAFL and QAFL for key position players........ The next Tom Stewart /James Podsiadly could be out there !!!
Throw a life line/oppurtunity to two 195cm plus boys . Got nothing to lose.

I wish Radovanovic in our VFL was a few cm's taller..... Almost worth a spot , plays KP in VFL and is a ripper.

I think the debate on Parks being put on the lti injury list to help the club improve its current injury crisis has been put to bed through Omac.

The club will do it and it is ok. It is just which player facilitated it. Anything else is just baseless and point scoring.

Both Omac and Parks suffer the same risk of being delisted but for diff reasons.

At only 80kgs seems more a third tall type just from reading that.

He is only 21. I'd go for Blanck with an eye for future, and then take best available ready to go with our second.
Listed as 85 kg last year 4 years ago, so I think you'll find that's a typo and he's 90 kgs.

EDIT: he's 92 kgs according to Box Hill.

Charlie Molan is one to watch. Won Ballarat Rebels B+F and was absolutely top rated in a team that featured Lohmann, Gibcus, Hobbs and Butler who were all early draft picks last year. A midfielder so probably not for us - but he is AFL quality.

It always interests me how a midfielder can win the B&F, go un drafted and mids who performed worse can go 1st round

That has always interested me too. I can think of 2 reasons though...

1) Some guys are consistent, solid citizens. Nick Graham types who may not make it afl level. While their 'X-Factor' teammates lack consistency but have traits (size, speed) that will translate to AFL level.

2) some 2nd tier players don't make the U18 champs teams. So they keep on playing league while the more talented guys play at the champs. Easier to win a B&F playing 13 games vs guys who play 8-10...

I truly believe that for every star kid drafted, there are many other kids with the same, if not better ability that fall through the cracks...

Junior league academy's and even U16 NAB league academy's are not always who's the best...
Junior academy's are filled with kids that are only there because of, Mum and Dads connections are and how much money they have...

If our recruiters could find a way to find these kids that have fallen through the cracks... We'd hit the jackpot of recruiting...

Comes down to club resources and having scouts at lots of different junior games. I have a mate who coaches juniors in the burbs and he and his colleagues see plenty of ultra talented kids who don't get a chance due to a lack of drive, cultural back ground, no connections in the industry, lack of scouting etc. My wife taught a kid who was a quiet well behaved kid at primary school from a good family and a gun junior footballer. He was recently on the news up for murder charges (ie ran with the wrong crowd and bingo). Its a shame as the pool is a lot deeper than what we think.

That's 2 spots, do I hear a 3rd?

Kane Lambert is the most recent example where I think recruiters look for “afl” traits related to athletic ability rather than pure football skills.
Lambert was at the Bullants for a couple of years and absolutely killed it - but we ignored it because he was seen as small slow and average skills.
Kids like Molan get marked down for similar reasons.
The great thing about Aussie Rules is that it is for all types - tall, short, fast, slow. Hasn’t changed in 150 years … but recruiters …

Agree regarding drafting and kids missing out.

Definitely kids who play in the private school system get a lot more chances to put their stuff forward

Both good points, I wonder if these failed solid citizens, boring mids, would make good defenders or if some would even excel in an AFL environment.

There are enough lower leagues players who have come in to the AFL the last few years and done very well, to make me believe there is plenty out there, they just need a chance.

Some develop later or need more time in a gym. Some just need more games in their legs or better coaching and get that when they get older. I think some benefit from life experiences or develop a desire to get into the AFL system when they experience dead end jobs. I think many clubs are looking at mature age recruits now as they have seen more of them than younger players due to the covid hiatus.

He is 28, more a KPP at either end, who can chopout in the ruck. Has AFL levels of endurance
Could be handy..
"Strom is a chiropractor who has been working with sporting clubs in recent years, focusing on managing injuries and facilitating rehabilitation, including at South Fremantle where he has worked with the players.

The West Australian is regarded as one of the strongest men in the WAFL and has the fitness base to come straight in and play in the AFL."

I’m with you hope Radovanovic gets a opportunity. He has had some interest from clubs, don’t know which ones though.

Good call. I remember reading an article years ago that suggested for every Michael Jordan who makes it, there are a dozen more in every major city with similar athletic attributes who never make because of social, economic or personal circumstances. Shame but a reality.

Geez... I want all these MSD players 🤤

Anyone know how Mirkov is? They were saying it could be an achilles on the tv coverage?
Could open a third spot...
Settle Tenny, if we grab three, we have to potentially flick three rookies at season’s end. O’Brien, Cottrell, Boyd, McDonald, Parks, Mirkov. Will already be upgrading Cat B Owies so promotion unlikely to be a thing.

There are two names there in question, realistically only one for me if OMac’s surgery is a resounding success. Get’s a bit interesting in reality.
