We have apparently met with Jacob Bauer. Has had a strong start to the year in the SANFL. Looks to be very strong overhead. Ex-Swans academy member, so I assume Luke Parks would know him reasonably well.

Josh Carmichael is another who has been mentioned. He recently received an exemption from the AFL and is now eligible for selection.

West Adelaide midfielder Josh Carmichael has risen to become a mid-season draft contender, and turned out for SA in this year's State Game.central.rookieme.com

Interesting - would be surprised if we took another ruck though.
I'd be happy with Bauer with our first pick, he still has improvement left, is a good size and it's hard not to be impressed with his ability to find the sticks. If he works out, he would complement our forward-line nicely. Teakle seems alright, too, fills more of a need but with a bit less upside, perhaps? He looks a bit like a third King brother, to boot. The interest in Bauer leaves me wondering why we didn't bother with Eddie Ford two years ago. Granted, Bauer looks more aggressive in his leads, but Ford was and is a rare talent.
Carmichael looks a little unstable in the knees on that footage: not showing much agility and seems to move like someone with ACL problems.
I'm assuming these two would currently be candidates if we took a second pick.
timing and leap also very good.Bauer’s hands are very good.

At first, I was looking at him as a bit of an undersized KPP but perhaps he's more of a third tall/medium forward. I know that might set off alarm bells but for us, it's basically SOS and that's it, the others seem better suited to the backline.Has kicked 5,5,3,0 goals in games this year which is pretty decent. Only 191cm though. Looks like he plays taller.
Not much taller, and Eddie Ford is a way more exciting prospect to me.Has kicked 5,5,3,0 goals in games this year which is pretty decent. Only 191cm though. Looks like he plays taller.
Got an eraser?
Bit of good news for you Jim....it appears that Derksen has also received an exemption. Not much taller, and Eddie Ford is a way more exciting prospect to me.
But we had our chance, and passed on both him and Isaiah Winder. Had we drafted them, I'd assume we'd have both at least pushing for selection right now.
That would mean he could only play an hour a week.Apologies to Newman, but if we recruit J Bauer, we need to give him number #24!

"After the AFL initially gave three exemptions last week – Hugo Hall-Kahan, Will Reinhold and Josh Carmichael – the League has notified clubs that a secondary batch has been granted eligibility for the June 1 mid-season intake.
They are Wade Derksen (Peel Thunder), James Blanck (Box Hill), Kallan Dawson (Williamstown), Kim Kantilla (South Adelaide), Liam Reidy (Frankston), Zac Strom (South Fremantle), Brett Turner (Glenelg) and West Coast COVID top-up player Jake Florenca (South Fremantle).”

A proud Carlton tradition...
UgeA solid unit IIRC on our recent trip to play Franga.
